A few days ago my husband brought home some chayote that his friend gave him and today I want to process it into our lunch menu, namely chayote lodeh sauce, of course lodeh sauce is probably already familiar to our Indonesian ears.
Chayote lodeh is a simple menu that is often served by our mothers at home, apart from the simple and time-saving way of cooking it, this vegan lodeh vegetable has many benefits which are good for the body, especially if we cook it ourselves we can be sure that it is free from other preservatives. and of course healthier
Cooking is a form of mother's love for her family, this is a very beautiful moment to be able to serve food to your beloved family, even though it is as simple as it is, it will certainly make family bonds very strong with each other.
Ingredients for making chayote lodeh:
4 red chilies
4 green chilies
1 tomato
1 sachet of instant coconut milk
2 white tofu
The first step is to first peel the skin of the chayote, this chayote has a lot of sap, so it's best to peel the chayote in a container filled with water to remove the chayote sap.
After peeling the skin of the chayote, then cut the chayote according to taste, here I cut it into thin strips lengthwise
after that start cutting 2 white tofu into cubes or according to taste, then add a little salt then fry the white tofu until golden brown and then drain and set aside for a while
After that, cut the red and green chilies into tapered shapes or according to taste, then cut the tomatoes into several pieces, then wash everything clean
and then prepare a little oil to saute the chilies and tomatoes until wilted, then add the chayote that was cut earlier then also add 200ml of mineral water
then add 1 sachet of instant coconut milk, then stir well, after that add tofu and a little salt, and if you want to add a little flavoring, that's fine, but here I don't use it because chayote and tomatoes are natural flavorings and the taste is already delicious, Cook for about 20 minutes until the chayote is perfectly cooked
and then check whether the taste is right, and the chayote tara lodeh is ready, ready to be served to your beloved family
