Mango season has arrived. I'm happier than the flower seasons. Of course. I can eat mangoes while flowers, I just display them on my work desk. But both are happy seasons, besides... oh wait, the season of love is also a happy season.
My husband's aunt invited me to harvest mangoes from the tree in front of her house. She really knows that I really like mangoes (half-ripe mangoes to be precise).
Apart from being grateful for the beautiful mango season, I am also grateful for the presence of my husband who brings a family that cares about me. Even though I no longer have a father and mother, my mother-in-law gives me love. It feels like I still have a mother.
It started with my mother-in-law who liked to ask for mangoes from my husband's aunt for me. So, my husband's aunt already knows about that my favorite thing.
Half Ripe Mango
It's quite unique. If the mango is ripe, that's normal. But this is a refreshing dessert made from half-ripe mango.
Half-ripe mangoes still have a crunchy texture. Also, it still tastes a little sour. For many women who like slightly sour fruit like tamarind, then half ripe mango desserts are a favorite thing to make when mango season arrives.
Just like in my favorites list. It's hard to express in words why I really like half-ripe mangoes that still have a sour taste. Also, crunchy texture.
Life is also not always about happy things full of sweetness. So, it's like getting used to accepting disappointments in our lives. For us, we don't give up easily.
By the way, I was happy to get some half-ripe mangoes from my husband's aunt's garden. Yeay! I couldn't hide the happiness from my face.
It's quite tricky to find half-ripe mangoes. I chose a mango that already had yellow at the end of the stem.
After returning from my husband's aunt's garden, I immediately made a refreshing dish of half-ripe mangoes.
Also, spicy! I used black sauce paired with this half ripe mango. black sauce from sweet soy sauce ingredients,
Black Sauce
spicy. Always spicy. For those of you who always read my blog, you already know that I am a fan of spicy sauce.
Spicy sauce is not only with red chili. For example, for the black sauce that I use this time. I use a type of small green chili which is spicier than red chili.
Look at this sauce! So sexy. But be careful. Or, just get close for an unforgettable thrill. You can be on standby with sweetened milk just in case you find it too spicy in your mouth.
The Ingredients
- one half ripe mango
- 5 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 5 small green chilies (chili that are spicier than chili in general)
Step By Step
making black sauce
First, prepare the black sauce. I finely chop the green chilies using only a spoon. Add salt to make it easier to cut the chilies.
For those who are not used to it, it's best to use a knife or chopper to prevent your hands from getting hot from the small green chilies.
Then, add sweet soy sauce after chili into small pieces. Black sauce is ready to use.
peel the mango
Peel the mango carefully. With the texture of the mango that is still half ripe, it makes the skin of the mango still hard and difficult to peel.
making mango cubes
Cut the mangoes into cubes after washing them clean. I will use the outer part of the mango that looks convex to decorate the entire dish on the serving plate later.
serve mango cubes with black sauce
Time for plating! Whoa, always excited for this! I put together the mango cubes. I put a bit of space between the cubes so the pieces are visible.
The first person who actually finished the mango cubes with spicy black cubes was my husband! Yeah, he really likes spicy sauce like me. Luckily, I still have another half-ripe mango in stock.
Mango cubes with black sauce which we ate after eating rice after lunch. Really refreshing. How about you guys? Have you ever enjoyed half-ripe or unripe mangoes?
❤️ See you at my next recipe!
