Various types of vegetables and fruit can be coloring our lives.
Currently, along with the times, traditional markets are often abandoned by people who prefer practical shopping. In fact, in some cities that are still developing, not yet very advanced with modernization, traditional markets remain the main destination with lots of cheap and good quality options.
For myself, I prefer shopping for vegan ingredients at traditional markets. The most important reason for this is because traditional markets offer more affordable prices and a wide selection of food ingredients. Meanwhile, in modern markets such as minimarkets and supermarkets that offer a lot of international products, local food ingredients will be difficult to find. If found, the price will be higher than what is sold in traditional markets.
TRADITIONAL MARKET CONDITIONS
Some people hate visiting traditional markets because the conditions for traditional markets are often wet, crowded and very uncomfortable to visit. However, is this always the case in every traditional market?
I do not fully agree with that opinion. Indeed, in my city, there are several traditional markets that do look dirty and very uncomfortable to visit. There is a strong smell of a mixture of live fish, chicken and fowl which makes the smell in the market make us uncomfortable. But apart from the bad things I mentioned earlier, of course there are traditional markets which are also comfortable to visit. So it really takes care from us to choose a traditional market that is worth visiting.
This time I visited a traditional market in the city of Banda Aceh. This is a strange city for me, but I feel quite comfortable here, especially for doing weekly vegan shopping this time.
Weekly vegan shopping of course has a lot of advantages here. In terms of market conditions, it doesn't look dirty, wet or have a strong odor.
Another thing is I really like the way the sellers arrange the display of stuffs in front of their shop. It looks colorful which manages to give me a cheerful atmosphere. And, I hope it will also create a pleasant atmosphere for other people who visit this traditional market.
There are many types of vegetables that I usually buy when I'm in a traditional market in my city. I will share some vegetables or fruit that I managed to buy when I explored vegan ingredients at this traditional market.
Well, there are many shops available in this traditional market area. So we can choose to visit the space we want. For me, I prefer to choose to shop in a store that looks quiet. That's like providing income for the store. Besides, I don't like shopping in a jostling manner. So it's better to choose a shop that is not too crowded to visit.
CHOOSE QUALITY VEGETABLES AND FRUIT
The availability of lots of vegetables and fruits makes us have to be smart in choosing the ingredients we will buy. That's because usually vegetables or fruit overlap and make some parts of the vegetables or fruit not as good as their condition at first.
So our job is to make sure and choose the things we want to buy are of good quality. I always choose the ingredients I want to buy myself. But you can ask the seller for help to choose it for you.
For me, I'm more content to choose the things I want to buy myself. It is my responsibility when later there are items that do not match my expectations.
It does take a little longer if we choose the ingredients we want by ourselves. That's fine for me. I feel very happy to do that. I chose carrots, chilies, mustard greens, chilies, onions, garlic, tomato.
INSIDE MY SHOPPING BAG
After getting the things I wanted, I finally asked the seller to calculate the total price I had to pay.
I bought a ripe papaya, mustard greens; pumpkin shoots, sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, red chilies, garlic, onions, tomatoes, spring onions.
For total groceries, I only paid 2 dollars. That's very cheap in my opinion with the vegan ingredients that I bought! What do you think?
Well, that was my activity for a fun weekly vegan shopping. I hope you guys also have a great time if you are shopping at your favorite market.
Thank you for reading my blog and reblog if you want my blog this time worthy of reading by others.
