Hello, friends, food lovers, and community members! I hope you are all doing well. Today, I would like to share a simple, easy, and healthy recipe for Goan Poi/Poee bread. With just a few ingredients and an easy method, this tasty bread is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Ingredients:
2 cups wholemeal flour
1 tsp fresh or dry yeast
1/2 tbsp sugar
3/4 tsp salt
Water
Instructions:
1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup of lukewarm water and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture and 1 cup of water. Then add 2 cups of wholemeal flour.
3. Using a spatula, stir the flour into the water until mixed well.
4. Sprinkle in the salt and continue to mix.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it’s nice and smooth. If required, dust a little flour on the surface.
6. Place the dough back in the bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
7. After the dough has risen, punch out the air and divide it into appropriate portions.
8. Form balls and flatten them to about 2 cm thick in the palm of your hand, and prepare all the pieces.
9. Cover and let them rest for 15 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C and bake the bread for approximately 15-17 minutes.
- Once baked, enjoy your delicious Goan Poi/Poee bread!
