hello, plant power foodie and vegan community greetings🙏here is my post for The Brand New plant-based challenge: Super Smoothie. After joining theherbalhive I knew about this community you doing very good work and
. here is my recipe. I use to make it using lots of holy basil leaves (tulsi leaves) for the immune system booster.
but here in Norway, I have no possibility of getting tulsi leaves so I tried a few basil leaves.
this healthy smoothie is made from coconut milk banana, tahini, holy basil seed, fresh turmeric, and frozen lemon.
Ingredients: for 1 serving.
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup tahini
1 tbsp maple syrup
2 bananas were cut and kept in the fridge for 15 minutes.
1 handful of Holy Basil ( Tulsi) leaves I used very few basil leaves because it is not the same as tulsi.
2 cm fresh turmeric
2 pinches of black pepper powder
1 tsp tulsi seed / glass
1/4 frozen organic lemon.
few grains of Himalaya salt.
lukewarm water.
Tulsi leaves are rich in vitamins A, C, and K and minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and potassium. It also has a good amount of protein and fiber. The purpose of using tulsi leaves in this smoothie the increase immune system, protection against viral infections, strengthen vital organs, reduce mental stress, healthy skin benefits.
the tulsi seed has also many medicinal properties It reduces constipation, bloating, acidity, heartburn. it is used in weight loss programs. It is used in hair and skin beauty therapies.
Frozen lemon is a source of vitamins. A, B6, C, and E, iron, zinc, potassium, the fiber contains flavonoids and limonoids which strengthen the cells and fight free radicals. using whole frozen lemon is having more vitamin c than normal lemon which boosts our immune system cleans our liver and kidney. everyday uses of one grated frozen lemon slice with peel and seeds/meal give all the above benefits.
In this smoothie can use any seasonal fruit and different kind of milk like oat milk, almond milk, rice milk I had coconut milk but at home in India, I use fresh coconut direct in the mixer. the fresh coconut taste and fibers from coconut meat give more benefit than the ready-made packed box.
The tahini paste or sesame paste I used here in Norway we have very cold weather and the temperature is always low degrees the sesame seed has a very warming nature good for hemoglobin nourishes blood vessels, regulates body temperature and increases lubrication in the joints. this cold country need to use some good fat and I use the tahini for taste and health benefits.
everybody interested in health knows about the amazing benefits of turmeric so there is no need for me to write about it.
add 1 tbsp water to the tulsi seed and soak for 4-5 minutes.!
In the mixer add coconut milk1/2 cup, maple syrup 1 tbsp, tahini 1/4 cup, 5 small pieces of frozen lemon, (saving a little for topping)
add turmeric, salt, and black pepper powder, a handful of fresh tulsi leaves use basil If you cannot get tulsi leaves.
then banana is cut into large slices. chilling the bananas keeps them from becoming slimy. blend until smooth approximately 2 minutes.
Fill the glass and garnish with 1 tbsp tulsi seed, some grated frozen lemon, grated fresh turmeric, and a pair of small basil leaves.
