
Vegan Hamburger Patties
Nutritious, healthy and delicious; these vegan hamburger patties might just become a family favorite. Easy to prepare and economical, too - this recipe uses everyday ingredients that are inexpensive and readily available.
Store bought vegan patties are often over processed and relatively expensive, with this recipe youโll be able to turn out a batch of patties in minutes that taste rather good. ๐
Hamburgers are such fun, arenโt they? ๐๐๐๐
Casual food, thatโs child, adult and crowd-pleasing. Serve these patties on sesame buns with air-fryer french fries, a green salad (or any salad) and lashings of vegan thousand island dressing on crunchy lettuce. ๐ ๐
Ingredients
_ 3 cups of cooked brown lentils
_ ยฝ an onion ๐ง
_ 1 portobello ๐ mushroom
_ ยฝ tablespoon garlic ๐ง powder
_ ยฝ tablespoon jeera seeds
_ ยฝ tablespoon crushed chilli ๐ถ flakes
_ 2 -2 ยฝ cups of bread crumbs
_ 1 ยฝ tablespoon tomato ๐
paste
_ 1 tablespoon marmite
_ 1 vegan stock cube
_ 1 tablespoon Aquafaba (chickpea cooking water)
_ Salt and freshly ground black pepper
_ 2 tablespoons water
_ Oil for frying

Method
Drain the lentils well, set aside.
Dice the onion and mushroom, finely. Sautรฉ in a little olive oil until the onion is translucent.
Remove from the heat and add a crumbled stock cube, chilli flakes, garlic powder, tomato paste, jeera, salt and pepper to the pan. Add 2 tablespoons of water and return to the heat. Stir continuously until the stock cube is dissolved, the mixture combined and all the water absorbed.
Add the breadcrumbs, adjust the seasoning and mix to combine. Add the Aquafaba and mix to combine.
Form burger patties by squeezing half a handful of the mixture and pressing it into a patty using your hands - see video.
The mixture is also great for vegan meatballs, so if you have extra, use it to make balls.
Lay the patties on a greased baking tray and bake at 189 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes or until browned and crispy. Turn the patties halfway through the cooking time.
Serve on hamburger buns with a slice of pineapple, a slice of vegan cheese, lettuce and vegan thousand island dressing ( combination of vegan mayonnaise and tomato sauce)
