Tape is one of the most popular traditional snacks in Acehnese society. Cassava tape is made naturally by fermenting it using a decomposition process with yeast. Tape has a sweet and slightly sour taste, with a distinct fragrance and characteristics. Well, this tape itself has many benefits for the body, especially for gastric health, besides that it is also beneficial for those of you with anemia and to improve the digestive system.
Cassava Tape Sponge Cake
Sponge cake has always been my favorite cake, especially this one snack that has a soft character. There were so many cassava tape that my friend gave me yesterday, that it made me think about processing them into something delicious. Although actually cassava tape eaten directly is also very delicious, but processing it into soft dishes like sponge cake is a flavor enhancer that suits my tongue.
After looking at references to the tape sponge recipe, it's really hard for me to find a recipe made from vegan ingredients. That's why I'm going to try to make a vegan version, even though it's actually scary for fear it won't work, but it can't hurt to try. I also added a different topping from the jackfruit seeds. I cut it thinly so that during the baking process it would make it crispy and later it would be combined according to the texture of the sponge.
Materials Used
Before starting to make the sponge cake I prepared some of the ingredients needed in the process later, as for the ingredients as follows:
- 100 grams of tapai cassava
- 200 grams of wheat flour
- 100 grams of jackfruit seeds
- 100 grams of sugar
- 100 ml cooking oil
- 150 ml of water
- ½ teaspoon of soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
Cooking Steps
Crush the tape until smooth, remove the middle part of the cassava tape.
Add the sugar then stir until the sugar dissolves.
Add flour flour, then stir until well mixed.
Add cooking oil, then water and stir
Next add the soda and baking powder, and mix until everything is mixed and there are no lumps.
Put it in a baking dish, which has been smeared with margarine and flour.
Thinly slice the jackfruit seeds then sprinkle all over the sponge cake.
Bake for 50 minutes at 180 degrees, after it's cooked, let it cool and then remove it from the mold.
Results
Sponge cake topped with jackfruit seeds is ready to be enjoyed, served with tea or a fresh cold drink and this will definitely be your best snack.The taste of this cake is very delicious, soft and fragrant. This is my first time making sponge cake from tape, usually I enjoy it by buying it at a cake shop. But making it myself, even though I don't get perfect results like in a cake shop, makes me happy enough. That's the beauty of being in the kitchen when people enjoy our cake and simply complimenting it with delicious words will definitely make us happy.
