I'm always curious about traditional snacks from my country even though popular traditional snacks from other cities always make us want to try them. Even though sometimes we think it's not healthy at all, but trying it once in our life doesn't hurt hehe, this is something you don't want to imitate. However, that's the reality isn't it, today is special for you a recipe that I've been wanting to try for a very long time, namely cireng.
What is cireng?
Cireng is a traditional delicious snack that is quite popular in Indonesia. It is made from tapioca flour which is then seasoned and fried. Now this tapioca flour is often known as aci flour so cireng stands for fried aci.
Cireng is quite much in demand by the public, especially teenage girls because this snack is indeed sold on street vendors so it is very easy to find. However, Cireng comes from the Sundanese region (West Java) so for me, who lives very far from the city, I am new to this food.
It was this curiosity that made me very enthusiastic to try it. Again and again in my area it is difficult to find this food so I took the initiative to try it at home. Curious about the preparation steps, let's take a look at the steps to make it below.
Ingredients Used
1 stalk of spring onion
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon mushroom broth
¼ teaspoon ground pepper
1 clove of garlic
100 ml water
1 tablespoon of vinegar
30 grams of brown sugar
½ teaspoon salt
Making Procedure
Prepare the garlic, salt, mushroom stock and pepper in a mortar and pestle, then finely mash the garlic.
Mince the spring onions into small pieces, then add them to the spice paste.
Add tapioca flour and stir until the spices are mixed with the flour.
Then slowly flush with boiling water while stirring gently until the dough is easy to shape.
Then form the dough round and thin, well I formed and divided it into 12 pcs. Fry in hot oil until cooked, I fry a little yellow so that the cireng is cooked evenly.
Result
Cireng is ready to be served, serve hot with the salad sauce that I have prepared. Well for this recipe I only get 2 pcs cireng, and for myself I think this is more than enough because cireng is made from flour so it is very easy to make you full.
Look at how the texture can't lie right, cireng made from tapioca flour is definitely chewy, but not hard, now try to make the shape a little thin so that the crunchy texture on the outside is more flavorful.
I think it tastes good, especially when combined with the spicy sauce from the salad sauce uhh this is a very fitting combination in my opinion according to my tongue.
The sweet and spicy taste of the sauce makes it even more delicious when combined with savory food that is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Once again covok enjoyed when hot yes, if cold the texture is a little hard in my opinion.
