Today I will share a recipe that can be an inspiration for you to celebrate Christmas at home with your family. This is an interesting steamed theme decided by the team for the Hive Top Chef Competition. This is my first time participating in this competition after being invited by my friend
a few months ago. He convinced me to participate in every contest. And now I can't find his post anymore it's been a very long time since he appeared, I hope and pray that he is fine wherever he is.
You must be very happy waiting for this day as your celebration. As well as me, if the celebration comes on a big day in my religion, will definitely be very happy. Preparing a special food menu on the day of celebration has become a tradition in my house. And I don't think it's much different at your house either. Usually at my house a lot of pastries are prepared to serve on the day of celebration. But not only pastries, other side-by-side menus are also the main dish at home.
As a complement to a delicious dinner for big day celebrations, you usually have to prepare sponge cake. But the cakes that I serve are usually non-vegan, so this time I will share with you a special steamed cake recipe made from 100% vegan.
Steamed Sweet Potato Cake
Steamed sweet potato cake is a special dish that I got a recipe from my friend some time ago. At first glance, this cake is similar to putu cake, but it's just that this cake is not prepared with grated coconut. Made from sweet potato and rice flour, this dish is very tasty and soft. I prepared this sweet potato by steaming, well as you know the lack of equipment in the mess where I live makes me, again and again have to prepare steamed dishes. But I think this cake is perfect for those of you who like steamed dishes without oil or butter. So, since you are starting to be curious, let me invite you to prepare this recipe!
Ingredients Used
3 sweet potatoes
250 grams of rice flour
50 grams of glutinous rice flour or tapioca
50 ml of water
50 grams of powdered sugar
50 grams of palm sugar
Cooking Procedure
To make this steamed sweet potato cake recipe, you need quite a long time, which is about 1 hour or more with the cake you get 1 20 cm baking pan. Now to prepare let's follow the cooking steps below.
STEP 1
Peel and wash the purple sweet potato until clean, then cut it into small pieces so that it cooks quickly when steamed. Now for the use of sweet potatoes, you can use any type of sweet potato that you like.
STEP 2
Then steam the sweet potatoes until they are really tender then mash the sweet potatoes using a mortar or fork until smooth.
STEP 3
Next, prepare rice flour and mix it with glutinous rice flour and powdered sugar, then divide the flour into two parts.
STEP 4
Well one part mix with mashed sweet potato. Mix thoroughly, then sift the flour so that there are no lumps.
STEP 5
Then the rest of the flour, mix it with water, stir until evenly distributed, and then sift again so that the texture of the flour is soft.
STEP 6
Take 2 spoons of flour then mix it with palm sugar. The flour that has been sifted is then divided into two parts so that when making layers it is easy.
STEP 7
Next, prepare a baking sheet and line it with plastic or baking paper, add the first white dough, flatten it and don't press it, then add the purple dough and don't press it.
STEP 8
Next, add the palm sugar on top, add it evenly throughout the flattened dough. Then add back the purple dough and followed by the white dough.
STEP 9
Then top it with grated purple sweet potato topping. And steam for about 45 minutes in a steamer container, don't forget to cover the steamer with a cloth.
Results
Steamed purple sweet potato cake is ready to be served to your family, soft and sweet which is just the right warm taste to serve your family on a special celebration day. I am very happy to be able to share this special recipe with your family, even though the results are very messy, with the tenderness of this cake I feel I have succeeded in making steamed cakes today.
