Wishing all my Hive friends a very good evening!
There’s truly something heartwarming about enjoying a warm cup of tea with a freshly prepared snack. Today, I made a special kind of vada using wheat flour—a humble yet wholesome twist on a traditional favorite.
Unlike the usual deep-fried lentil vada, this version is quick to prepare, soft on the inside, and lightly crisp on the outside. Perfectly spiced and gently textured, these wheat flour vadas come together with ease and are ideal for tea time—especially when you crave something delicious and homemade.
Give it a try, and treat yourself and your loved ones to a cozy moment filled with flavor and comfort.
Ingredients...
⭐️ Wheat flour 200g.
⭐️ A finely chopped onion.
⭐️ A little finely chopped curry leaves.
⭐️ 1 1/2 teaspoon of Yeast.
⭐️ 2 teaspoon of crushed chili powder.
⭐️ 1 teaspoon of pepper.
⭐️ Salt as needed.
⭐️ Coconut oil for frying.
The cooking process as follows.
First, add the wheat flour into a bowl. Then, add the yeast that has been dissolved in a little water.
Now add crushed chili powder, ground black pepper, salt, curry leaves, and chopped onions to the mixture.
Now mix everything well to form a dough. While preparing the dough, gradually add water as needed.
Next, place a pan on the stove and add some coconut oil. Once the oil is hot, take portions of the dough and shape them by hand as shown below. Add the shaped vada to the pan and fry until golden brown.
Before they lose that delightful crispness, serve these wheat flour vadas warm with your favorite chutney or simply alongside your cup of tea. It’s a simple treat, yet one that carries the comfort of tradition and the joy of fresh cooking. Whether shared with family or savored in a quiet moment, these vadas are sure to bring satisfaction with every bite. Enjoy the warmth, the crunch, and the calm of tea time, Sri Lankan style.
