Isn't it funny, how some words can really trigger people. For various different reasons as well. There is a lot I could say on that matter, but really I would just be sharing my opinion and sometimes it's better to keep that to yourself. I chose to stop eating meat when I was a teenager but I was vegetarian for the first few years. Becoming vegan, came later to me in life.
My main reason, is for the animals. I don't agree with the meat industry and how animals are treated. How most of them never get to see the sunlight or experience the feel of grass beneath their feet. It's so cruel, how we have manipulated animals.
I grew up on the countryside in Ireland, surrounded by farms. I amde friends with all the animals and was especially close to my neighbours cows. When they would dissappear and be replaced, I began to ask questions and the answers I recieved upset me. I wasn't comfortable eating my friends. So I stopped eating meat.
I am all for freedom of choice, as long as it causes no suffering to any other being. That's where it gets complicated. I know that some people, really feel that their bodies need meat in order to be healthy.
There was a time, when humans hunted for their own meat, when they really honoured the animal that was providing nourishment for them. When animals were free to roam about as they wish up until that point, when they died at the hands of humans. Humans that were more connected with the earth and her beings. I personally could never kill an animal, so I don't eat them.
Now we have animals being farmed in huge numbers, that are kept in such horrible conditions. They are artificially inseminated, so that their babies are taken from them, to meet the needs of humans. I seen footage of what happens and I never want to see it again. It broke my heart.
What I saw was such a disrespect for these beautiful beings. They had so much fear in their eyes, as they were herded to their death. Souch pain as their babies where taken from them. Mothers chasing after the vehicle's that stole them away.
I know that I am a minority and that most people, don't want to think about how the meat they eat gets to their table. That most people won't even bother to read anything that has the word vegan attached to it, because we're too in your face about it all. I personally don't like to preach, in my experience it can be very off putting.
But I really would love, if people began to eat more Consciously. If they took the time to connect with their food snd find out where znd how it came to them. We owe that to ourselves and we owe it to the animals. But ultimately, I really would like to live in a kinder world, for all.
