How do you like my bread taking view?
No, this isn't a typo.
I wasn't talking about the first picture ( might share more about that in a future write up ) but about the following one:
This afternoon, my kitchen floor tried to 'take my' home made 'bread' (away).
It might have beaten my glass oven dish, it didn't beat me, nor my bread.
It did not take my bread away.
I lifted the bread from the floor, checked it for glass and then picked up the biggest glass pieces with my hand, after which I used a brush and a dust pan to collect the smaller pieces of glass, as well as some bread crumbs. I then threw those in the bin.
Luckily, 90% of my bread seemed intact. And - aside from a tiny splinter in my sandal, trying to make its way into the bottom of my left foot, without luck - all was well.✨
The bread tastes okay, although it is slightly sour ( made with Greek yoghurt ) and could do with some salt ( there was no salt mentioned in the recipe ). So, to compensate for the sourness and to make up for the lack of salt, I decided to eat it with peanut butter and cheese ( not at the same time ).
Quite nice.
As you can see on the above picture, it is a bread with nuts and raisins.
I used yoghurt, so I didn't have to wait for the dough to r(a)ise and to make it fluffy.
The raisin reason for it to try to defy the gravity laws, something it failed at, was that the baking paper stuck to the bread ( and the glass oven dish ). I was so 'clever' as to try and separate the two of them, on the edge of my kitchen sink, using my powerful hands.
1+1 = 2, although this looked more like a division.
Let's now move on to the inspiration for the title to this post ( that I actually started yesterday ).
Today is not a shitty day at all.
In fact, I did not even curse when the aforementioned happened.
That's how ZEN I am.
Let's rewind to yesterday, afternoon...
I had just walked to the village ( 25 minutes in dry heat, a serious workout ).
This time around, I had decided to wear a cap and my headphones over it ( so I was extra hot ). I did this so I could listen to voice messages from friends and also as a 'protection' against possible nosey neighbors who might want some of my precious time. This time, I did not have time to spare, as I had a meeting with an organic farmer who delivers produce to my village, every week ( as I briefly mentioned in my previous write up: she then showed me her humongous cabbages....
I had almost reached the meeting point and was a bit early, so I decided to refresh myself at a little drinking fountain.
After having done so, I decided to sit down for a bit, in the shade, on a stone bench next to the fountain.
A woman and a young girl on a bicycle approached me. It became clear to me that they wanted to go to the fountain, so I smiled at them, said "Boa tarde!" and moved a little to the side, to give them some space.
Where I thought they had wanted to drink some water or at least splash some of it on their faces or wrists, the woman instead moved the girl's bike towards the water and positioned the front wheel where the excess water ran over the basin's edge.
It was only then, that I noticed that there was something resembling shit on the bike's tire.
Shit happens, right?
Not sure if the shitty tire bothered the little girl, but it clearly bothered the woman, who - on closer inspection - appeared to be her grandmother.
I guess, by the look on the li'l girls face, that she felt like shit ( and a bit embarrassed by her grandmother, who probably blamed her for getting her bike dirty )
What followed was about 5 minutes of the old lady trying to get rid of the shit, not daring to touch it, only using water and spinning the tire a bit.
I mentioned that it might help to drive it through some grass but she said it didn't and kept doing it her way.
I moved away, a bit more, as the shitty water almost reached me and kept witnessing this dirty moment from a safe distance, leaning against a nearby tree.
Once the woman was satisfied with the cleanliness of the front tire of the girl's bike, the two of them moved on, not even taking a sip from the water.
I guess we all have our priorities in life. I prefer to focus on other things but it was an inspiring experience, nevertheless.
