Hello there, lovers of the travel and photography!
Lately I, , your favorite travel photographer :P, have been putting a lot of thoughts about the possible revival of the "TRAVEL CONTEST" I have been running long ago on Steemit, a contest I "halted" there few months before the dramatic split of the two blockchains.
With the increased number of new users and old users putting more time and energy into HIVE I think it is time to have this initiative reinstated. So after having that long break, let me try to summarize my vision of the contest.
The contest will ask for your own photos and personal stories. No copy-paste from Wikipedia, images from Internet, etc. Plagiarism will be strictly prohibited and punished.
The focus will be on the best combination of photograph(s) and telling a story, either short or long. A great photograph may win it, I admit. Hehehe, pardon me, my photography passions speaks now...
There will be one entry per person per week. One person posting from several accounts isn't the most fair thing to do, right?
The entries will be as comments to the contest post. Of course, posting a separate, dedicated post is absolutely OK and depending on its content it may aid or not aid the entry itself :)
The deadline to participate will be one week.
There will be one winner and one honorable mention. This may and I hope change (increase) in the future if I get more liquid assets or get a good sponsor.
As my dolphin vote, in my opinion, currently isn't big enough to provide for proper rewards, I will be giving part of the post rewards to the winner and the mentioned by setting them as beneficiaries to the next post that announces the winning selection. I think 40% for the winner and 10% for the mentioned are good for starters. (Thanks to the
team for the inspiration here :)) Also, I plan to give additionally Hive SBI shares (or Hive Stake Based Income, check out this post of
for more info: @steembasicincome/hive-sbi-value-balances-and-upvote-delivery). I believe this "social experiment to bring a voluntary crowd-funded basic income" is a great long-terms tool for me to support and reward the good creators of quality content on the platform long after the contest or myself are gone. The number of the given HBI shares will depend on the liquid rewards coming from the
posts.
The remaining 50% of the post rewards will be used for power ups and for the liquid prizes.
Occasionally, there will be guest judges invited, set as partial beneficiaries of 20%.
As I personally know many photographers and other travelers, I hope to be able to bring more people to HIVE, that's a long-terms goal.
Of course, I have a lot of questions:
First of all, should I run this contest? Aren't there already enough contests on HIVE?
Should I create a new community? I don't want to "spam" the existing ones.
What would be the best and proper existing community for the contest posts?
Do you think I could find any whale support or just depend on the activity of the contestants?
Do you think that way of rewarding the winners is good?
Have I missed anything important/mission critical?
Any other ideas, suggestions, comments?
I would love the hear from the creators and the mods of the Photography DAC and Photofeed communities, thanks all: ,

I would also like to thank who gave me few ideas and a small but important push to have this one published sooner :)
Last but not least, check out the profile picture and background I created from some of my favorite travel photos ;)

As this is the first post on HIVE, I decided to use the #introduceyourself hashtag as this is indeed a /proper/ introduction, LOL.
