Hello my dear friends
I'd like to share with you this gift, that my friend Alfonso shared with me. He came over to the recording studio and brought his Tibetan singing bowls, tingshas, koshi chimes, Feng gong and an ocean drum.
During the ocean segment, he used various friction mallets to stimulate the Feng gong. the sound is absolutely out of this world. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
I'm so impressed by the sound that I would like to purchase my own instruments as soon as I can. Tibetan singing bowls can be quite pricey though, so I might have to wait a while.
we recorded all of this with a stereo pair of Neumann TLM 103 large condenser microphones and a second pair of Røde NT5 small condenser microphones.
The large-condenser microphones were placed above the instruments with the diaphragm pointing down at a 45 degreee angle, the other pair were placed directly to the sides of the bowls on either side of the setup.
these were run into a Focusrite 8Pre AD/DA converter.
note: this was recorded pre COVID19, I decided to share it now.
