Hi there. In this food post, I visit Sansotei Ramen at the Eaton Centre mall in downtown Toronto.
I put this in Travelfeed this time around. This post could be helpful to travellers to Toronto especially for the FIFA World Cup coming soon.
Sansotei Ramen
According to their website, Sansotei is a Canadian brand specializing in Tonkotsu Ramen. Their inspiration is from the Kyushu and Hokkaido regions of Japan. Sansotei was founded in 2012 and has grown to many locations in the Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, Kitchener, Waterloo, Quebec and other parts in Canada.
Sansotei Ramen founder Michael Zhang was on his first-ever trip to Japan with his wife and business partner Chigusa when he tasted the noodle soup that would change his life forever. “I was instantly hooked on ramen. And was like—Man, this is so good I could eat it every day."
Fast forward to 2011. Determined to unleash his inner entrepreneur—and with ramen still on his mind—Michael quit his corporate restaurant job, hired a translator and flew to Japan where he studied how to make perfect handmade noodles and rich ramen broth—all from scratch. “It was pretty intense.”
I have had Sansotei Ramen in the past. It has been years since I had ramen from this place. They have good ramen noodle soup.
Chicken Shio Ramen Noodle Soup
This Sansotei Ramen location is at the Eaton Centre mall in the food court area. This is different than most of their other locations. Getting fast food ramen noodle soup is very convenient.
I order the Chicken Shio ramen noodle soup. This was something I had once before when it was a fairly new item on their menu at a different location.
The price was 15 CAD plus tax. Prices 5 to 7 years ago used be something like three to four dollars cheaper. We are in inflationary times so at least 15 CAD for ramen is normal.
This soup broth was delicious. The bonus egg was nice as well. What really stood out for me was the chicken breast pieces. They were tender, juicy and chewy. These cooked chicken breast pieces were amazing.
When it comes to food court food at Toronto malls, the quality is not that great. There are a lot of fast food options. The quality of Sansotei's Chicken Shio ramen noodle soup is pretty high for mall food in the Toronto area. (Toronto food court standards not that high.)
My rating is a 9 out of 10. I would consider Sansotei Ramen again if I'm wanting ramen in Toronto.
Thank you for reading.
