When we went out to mexico we only had one hotel booked for the first two nights. This was a) to create more flexibility to go with the flow on travelling around mexico and b) because rules change so quickly now thanks to covid at any point you risk losing your booking or access to a country and not everyone is great with returning money and a lot of travel insurance policies have a lot of small print ways out of paying up!
For this reason I highly recommend having a date in mind and juSt booking flights or two weeks in advance and then having one hotel for two nights booked that’s cancaleable as close to the date as possible. We used booking.com or Expedia for most of our hotel stays and it served us well. These sites are great as they offer heavily reduced stays close to the booking time. So you can end up in a £300 a night room for £90 etc if you grab a real bargain. I don’t have money to throw away on holidays I can’t go on, as I’m sure most people don’t!
So during our stay in mexico we visited Cozumel island, I did a post on it here:
I think it was probably my favourite place in mexico so far. I’m sure there is lots to be discovered there though.
I really had my eye on this b unique hotel for a one night treat because It had an amazing infinity pool and an indented bar pool area but in the end we went for the cheaper b hotel. Stupidly I didn’t put two and two together until arrival that they were right next to one another and as a guest of either you could access the amenities of both hotels. The only real differnce was the rooms were nicer in the b unique.
The hotel has so many amenities to keep you busy. It has its own private beach which isn’t really sandy but in my opinion was more inteResting as it had a floating platform in a crystal clear sea you could jump from and swim out to and float around looking at the sea life. Even though our first day was a little duller and it rained the sea was surprisingly warm and the hot tub was amazing. It was a great snorkling spot but I actually found you could see just as much quietly watching from the platform for a bit in that area. If I snorkel think I would prefer a coral reef.
It a so means if you keep your eyes open you can spot quite a bit of nature on the rocks around the hotel. I think a lot of the animals are used to people and not as scared. Sad to say that crab was dead! But we did see another grey and white one that blended into the rock and a huge orange fish from the infinity pool.... they escaped the camera though!
The hotel has two pools the infinity pool is slightly warmed, which makes it my obvious favourite as I find most of the pools here way too cold even on the hot days and unbearable on the colder ones.
My absolute favourite thing though was the hot tub. It’s almost impossible here to find a tub that’s not cold! I get cold pools but people here seem to also like to sit in cold water lol. This tub was so hard it was even hard to get into it was absolute bliss! I stayed in for ages when it started to rain just looking out over the ocean.
All around the grounds are cute lounging beds, hammocks and decking:
There is a restaurant with an inside and outside. Included in the stay is a buffet breakfast which, is amazing.
Although not included I had women absolutely delicious food in this hotel, probably the best I had in mexico. Here are a couple of posts with what I ordered.

There are lots of things on to partake in if you stay like yoga and meditation just not on the day we were staying so sadly I sadly get to try that out.
Our room was basic but had everything we needed. You don’t need to spend much time in it anyways and as part of our Expedia deal we got a free bottle of chanpagne to enjoy :)
At night the place was so pretty it was hard to take photos and do it justice but they had lights in the sea and little fairy lights everywhere. Overall I loved this hotel and was one of the nicest I have a stayed in. It had a very boutique feel and all the staff go out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay for longer If I went back to mexico. I also would always choose the b hotel as the room doesn’t mean that much To me now I know all facilities are shared.
