This week I will continue with what I found in Stavanger. There lots of murals in this city. I think Stavanger was the first city in Norway to legalize street art. The first photo shows a mural painted by Hyuro who has given it the title «Hands». The mural picks up the colors of the houses next to it. Makes it look in harmony with the street and the houses.
Vlekart is the artist behind the paintings on the photos above. He is a well know and active artist in my hometown Kristiansand. I have already done many posts with his work from this city. To see his work in Stavanger was a nice surprise.
I think the title is «Homeless» (acording to my friend who accompanied me on this walk in Stavanger). When I made a comment about it looking like a scene from Gaza, she said, that she thinks the artist was thinking of Afghanistan. But, in this case we are not certain. The artists are Icy & sot. I had to google these two to find out more. I then learned that they are brothers, originally from Iran. They fled their country because of the censorship and persecution.

In this case I don't know who the artist is, or any title. To us, it looks like the girl is taking a picture of a boat with refugees in the Mediterranean. Again the chosen colors harmonize with the building surrounding the mural.
Both of these beautiful portraits were painted in 2023. Both are definitely among my favorites from this visit to Stavanger.
The building is decaying. It seems only a few of the paintings have survived. This huge mural on the end of the wall must have looked pretty good once. It was painted in 2015 by artists Ella & Pitr. On the side wall of another building we saw many smaller paintings. But most of them were not in a good condition.
This was painted by artist AFK ln 2018. A street artist who comes from Bergen. He also works with stencils and sculptures. Most of his monochrome works have a slight use of colors. quite often has a political undertone. I have seen some of his work in other cities as well.
