Hello Henthusiast Haven Community! 🤗 I hope you guys are doing good and great. If you guys haven't known yet, I am
, founder and member of HHGuild, a gamer, blogger, and curator. And I am from the Philippines. 💙
I will be creating a series of Guides primarily targeting my friends, family, and community which I am inviting to join the great WEB3 Social Media Platform, Hive. I would also love to hear your feedback, suggestion, and other ways to improve these guides, so that I can encourage them to join the Hive Blockchain.
I have already created the following Guides, check it out if you haven't done so:
PART 1 - Hive Onboarding Guide: Free Account Creation Using Hiveonboard 🚀
PART 3 - Hive Onboarding Guide: Create Your First Post Using Peakd - Part 3

PART 2
STORE YOUR HIVE ACCOUNT KEYS ON HIVE KEYCHAIN AND EASILY ACCESS HIVE DAPPS 🚀
I have briefly talked about them in the first part of our guide, but we are going to tackle more about your Hive Private Keys here. Now think of it like this, your Private Keys are your Identity, and you don't want others to pretend to be you, am I right? Then you should not give access to others or make sure you know what you are giving access to others regarding with your private keys.
Since, we are not perfect being, and we might mistakenly give access to others unintentionally or bad people stole your keys, the Hive creators made the 4 different Keys for each account, namely: Posting Key, Active Key, Memo Key, and Owner Key.
These Keys have different uses such as:
The Posting Key which is needed for confirming transactions of posting, comment, upvote, reblog, follow, editing profile, and logging in on Hive dApps. (Pictures are from https://hiveonboard.com/what-is-hive)
The Active Key is for confirming transaction regarding your money, like transfering of funds, staking and/or delegating your funds, Hive power up or down, claiming or burning of Tokens, and Voting for Witnesses/Proposals.
The third key we have is the Memo Key which is used to send and view encrypted messages.
The 4th Key is the Owner Key. This key protects who you are as it could change your other keys as well as recover your account, so make sure to protect this key. 😉
We also have another Key which is called the Master Password, which generates the four other Keys. Same case, you should keep it safe and never ever share it. 💙
Now that you have already known about your keys, it is time to add it on a Hive Wallet to easily access any dApps. And in this case, we will use the Hive Keychain, which is available as a Browser Extension and Mobile App.
Hive Keychain Browser Extension
To add your Hive Account Keys to the Hive Keychain Browser Extension, you can follow these steps to do so.
Step 1. Download the Hive Keychain Browser Extension
- You can search the Hive Keychain Browser Extension in the search bar, click the first link that pops up, and click the add to your browser.
- Once you have successfully added it, you can find it in the top right corner of the browser as shown in the screenshot below. Open it.
Step 2. Open the Hive Keychain Browser Extension and Create a Password
Once you open the extension, you'll be able to see this page and be instructed to input a password which you will use to open the keychain extension.
Make sure to have your password at least 8 Character Long, with an Upper Case, and a Special Character. Click the SUBMIT button once done.
Step 3. Add your Hive Account Keys to the Hive Keychain Browser Extension
- The next step is to setup and add your keys by entering your private key or your master password. In this case, we will click the "Use keys/pwd" button, since we saved our keys in a paper.
- After clicking the Use keys/pwd, we will be directed to this page to add our account.
- Input your username and also the private key, please remember that the Master Password generates the four keys, so be careful on doing so. In this case, you can just add your Posting Key.
- And Congratulations you have successfully added your Hive Account to the Hive Keychain Browser Extension. 🎉
Hive Keychain Mobile App
There is also a mobile of Hive Keychain, which already has a built-in browser to easily access any Hive dApps. This is very convenient especially for Filipinos who are now more into mobile phones rather than PCs. Follow these steps to add your Hive Account to Hive Keychain.
Step 1. Download Hive Keychain App
- You can download the Hive Keychain App on Play Store and App Store. Just search it up and hit the download button. Once downloaded, open the app.
Step 2. Open the Hive Keychain App and Choose a PIN
- Once you open the app, you will be able to see this page. Choose the Existing Account Button, and you will be directed to choose a pin. This pin will be used to open the Hive Keychain App for security purposes, and you can also turn on the Fingerprint Scan for added layer of security.
Step 3. Add your Hive Account Key into the Hive Keychain App
- The next thing to do after choosing your PIN is to add or import your Hive Account Keys. Input your username, and also your private key. In this case, you can also use the Posting Key, and hit the Import Button. And Congratulations, you have successfully added your Hive Account to the Hive Keychain Mobile App. 🎉
- Shout out to
for these screen grabs, she is a new user I invited on Hive, and hopefully will create her first post as soon as possible, once she has understood Hive's Technicalities.

That will be all for the Second Part of this Guide, and I am thinking of the third part as a guide to start their journey to publish their first post on Peakd.
BTW, if you guys are interested to join and be a member of the Henthusiast Haven Guild, check out the post below as HH Guild already opened its Member Registration. 💙 Hope to see you on the Guild Guys!
