One of the favourite things to do when I'm out of town is checking out the local breweries and this is a tale of one of those Daylesford Brewing in, you guessed it 'Daylesford' which if you jump in a car is about an hour and a half from where I live in Melbourne, Australia.
The first thing you notice about this place is that it's more of a venue that a craft brewery in the traditional sense - we spent a fair amount of time trying to work out if they brewed on site - which they don't - I think they brew in Daylesford (or maybe just outside of it) but not in this venue, which is quite a nice ye olde building, like most of them in Daylesford which has had a very nice make-over, of particular interest is the outside area, it was could, maybe 6-7 degrees Celsuis the night we were there, hence the lack of people, but eventually some turned up and snuggled under those blankets.
We of course we ensconced inside ready for some brews and food.
In front of you is a spiced plum ale and a west coat IPA both were pretty solid and well made, the West Coast was nice a fresh and super refreshing which is always nice.
The food in this place was amazing as well, of course I was too hungry to actually take photos but the ribs where sensational, there was some tapas style hommus and pita bread which rocked.
There was a pretty good vibe in the place, even if this was a country town and thus it wasn't really 'jumping' or anything like that but it was doing steady business of what appeared to be both locals and tourists like us, which I guess is what you are hoping for as a venue.
The second round, post food was this...
Firstly, notice there are now people outside, all rugged up and what not. But more importantly there is a Black IPA on the table, which always makes me a very happy little fella, there is nothing like the roastiness of bite of a good Black IPA, and this was one. The shining yellow beer is a Cold IPA, which is not a style I have every really understood, but this was, well passable, I wouldn't go out of my way to have it again, but if it was given to me I would be happy enough.
Which is to say the next time I'm in Daylesford I'd pop in here again for another brew.
