Well, it’s time for the second part of the beer list from the survival kit. Last week the beers were IPAs and I decided to drink them first in order to be fresh and keep the best part of their aromatic profile. Now it’s time for something different. The beers here are two sours and one lager. And there are styles that being not so heavily hopped so the chance of spoiling the beautiful flavor is less expected.
The first beer to have in this review is the green canned “Modern lager”.
Beer vast res chose the name Punta Mara for it and the label style again is very clean and simple. I love this.
When I opened the beer there was an instant hop aroma that hit my nose and the hops were not traditional for a lager. You can clearly catch some some fresh and fruity notes rather than the typical Saaz classical taste. Yup, already seems a modern beer.
In the glass it’s relatively clear and pretty light looking. I guess the most of the grain bill is Pilsner malts. This light color cannot be achieved with a lot of other malt varieties and here we cannot expect any wheat malts.
To be honest, I liked this one a lot because of its clear and absolutely modern taste of high quality hops.
Next one is a “Bash Dirty” beer. Again the label is very clean and simple. They keep their style close to this. This beer is a Gose, but not an ordinary one, but a nasty one! As the brewers state on the label! 😁
They have used Raspberries, cherries and strawberries in the cocktail that is added to the gose style. As a result there’s a lot of freshness in the glass.
The color is strange, due to the addition of the fruit purée, but it’s far from nasty! Looks a bit like a fruity smoothie. The sourness of this gose is not that brutal, and the addition of the fruit combo makes the beer perfect for a hot summer day. The fact that it’s not so sour makes it perfect for a consumption greater than one can. I can easily enjoy 3 or more before the taste becomes overwhelming.
