For this week's #beersaturday entry, I decided to try a new Three Floyd's beer I found today on the North Shore. Yes, the North Shore...I've been here the past week in case you might not know, and I'm sad to say goodbye to Mother Superior. Why not go out with splash?
The artwork on the package is pretty cool. I've never seen this one in Wisconsin before, and there is plenty of Three Floyds distributed in the area. The advert on this one is that it comes from a place of "new age brewing alchemy coupled with old school heavy-handed brewing." I'm not sure what any of that means, but this one comes in at a heavy 6.5% ABV and IBUs equal to 63.
The beer is definitely cloudy and has a good nose to it. It looks like everything I should really enjoy...but...it's kind of a let down. The beer almost has a skunk nose to it, which is fine, but the malt bill tastes a bit smokey. I like smoked beers in the winter, but I'm not much of a fan of it in an IPA.
Our vacation rental didn't have any pint glasses, so I had to go with some fancy wine glasses to drink the beer. I can be fancy sometimes, right?
Despite the beer being a bit of a bummer (I'll still drink it tonight, though...), not all was lost. The beer store in Beaver Bay had a pleasant surprise today; a little BBQ food tent that was selling smoked pork, chicken, and beer. Yum!
So far a last vacation night of meals, I decided to go with the half-pound of pork shoulder and my wife went with the half-pound of smoked chicken.
Delicious! Both take-out entrees came with pickled white onions and pickled cukes...with some spicy homemade BBQ sauce. Very good, and if you are up here checking out any of these spots I've been posting about this past week, check this pop-up out.
That's it for this week's post; if you are curious and love to try new beers and share them, check out this community hosted by :

Back to reality starting tomorrow on the hike home...then back to the real world. Vacation can't last forever, I guess, but it is still a wonderful #beersaturday. Hoping everyone out there is having a wonderful Saturday evening too!
