When we remember a special Christmas, it is not the presents that made it special, but the laughter, the feeling of love, and the togetherness of friends and family that made that Christmas special-Catherine Pulsifer
Christmas is the most cherished time of year, especially for children. A time to commemorate Jesus' birth. There is love, joy, and hope when you put Jesus in your heart. As a result, we can celebrate Christmas throughout the year rather than only in December. We may celebrate Christmas at any time since the actual essence of Christmas is giving and sharing with those we care about and those in need. Not just in terms of material things but in all aspects.
How are you today, my beloved hive friends? I wish you sustained well-being and good health. This blog will describe how my youngest child attended and celebrated their Christmas Party this year. My youngest child is in grade two and she studied at CRMC Elementary Department, Bogo City, Cebu. They had their modular and online learning modality when the pandemic hit our country, so, they haven't had a Christmas party at school in nearly two years. We are extremely grateful to God that face-to-face learning modalities have returned. Our students can now celebrate Christmas at school.
Hugyaw 2022 was the event named by the entire Elementary Department to commemorate this momentous occasion. Hugyaw is a Cebuano phrase for a gathering roaring with laughter and excitement. The event or celebration is attended by students from Nursery to Grade Six, together with their parents, teachers, and guests. It was held at Don Celestino Martinez Sports Complex in Bogo City, Cebu because they wanted the participants to feel comfortable since the gym is quite spacious. Both teachers and students were having their uniforms in this event. These are designed similarly, however; each grade level differs mainly in their sleeves for identification. The sleeves for Grade 2 students are neon green and cost 250.00 pesos (4.58 US dollars).
There was a game before the program officially started. The head and shoulder, knees, and cup were one of the most amusing games that my child participated in and thoroughly loved. She won in the first round but lost in the second. She loses the game since her partner is short, so he bows down ahead of time to catch the cup. The games were appreciated by both the children and the parents. Following the games was the raffle draw for the 10 consolation prizes. Each parent received a ticket for 250.00 pesos, or ($4.58 US dollars). We did not win the raffle, but that's okay as long as we can help with the school's project.
Dinner followed the raffle. For the food, each grade level hired a caterer. The parents agreed to hire a caterer rather than bringing a single meal to the celebration. Because most parents work, the teacher and parents came up with this idea to avoid bothering the parents with food preparation. We paid 600.00 pesos or (11.00 US dollars) for two heads or two persons. Each person or per head cost is 300.00 pesos or (5.50 US dollars) and we need to pay for two heads. This was intended for the child and the parents who would attend the party. The delicacies offered by the caterer were quite appealing. It appears to be both tasty and healthful. The caterer's food and drinks were liked by both parents and children. They've all eaten a lot.
The formal program began after the meal. The parade of headdresses followed. Then the preliminary competition of headdresses since it was a contest, I crafted the headdress for my child. It was made of Christmas Decor attached to the headband. I only used glue sticks to secure the Christmas decor to the headband. They will select the five best children or learners who wear the best headdress for each grade level. The winners will compete across all grade levels. Fortunately, my child's headdress was chosen as one of the best.
My child and her Mommy Joy, my very supportive sister, also join the event.
My child and her Daddy Erlon, my very supportive brother in Law, also join the event.
After judging the parade of headdresses in each grade level and there were official results, various performances followed. They have a dancing performance and are comical sketches. In their comical sketch, my child was chosen as a teacher. That's why she wore a blazer to identify herself as the teacher of their class. However, the real performance was dubbed or recorded. Her voice has already been recorded, and she intends to use it. But, as a teacher, she had already memorized her lines.
Their dance performance came after the comical sketch. My child is also a terrific dancer, but she was in the last line and I couldn't see her. They gave a good presentation; thus, it was uploaded. Following the presentation, presents or gifts were exchanged. My child received a coin bank, pencil case, and notepad as gifts. She was overjoyed with the gifts and grateful to whoever gave these to her. The gathering was a success. It was one of the most unforgettable events in my child's life, to all parents and the school as well.
Gifts She Received
