These photos were taken during my birthday back in November 2021. I was happy to see my son eating the Filipino lumpia for my birthday. He was eating it with Thai sauce and he was not bothered by the chili sauce.
I remember I was preparing lumpia with my mom and it took us a lot of time since everything was manual. For the pork fillet, we need to grind it with a knife. The carrots, onions, and garlic should be shredded into small pieces. Just add salt, pepper, a little cornstarch, and 2 eggs. Then mix everything using a spoon or spatula.
Here in France, it was all quick since we have a machine to grind the meat and shred the spices into small pieces. Don’t forget to buy the Vietnamese paper roll to wrap the meat.
Prepare the pan with oil. You can put your lumpia inside when it is boiling. Cook until golden brown. Set aside in a bowl with tissue paper to absorb oil.
In Filipino culture, you can eat this with rice and you are full. Here in Europe, they can eat this as a starter.
He is so adorable when he eats with gusto and says, “Mmmm...!”
His reaction is always funny.
As of this writing, he sees the photo and says, “Aaahmmm...!”
The action is when he puts his hand to his mouth like he is eating.
He also loves my pork adobo.
Hoping someday I can prepare meals for my family. I really want to buy a steamer so that I can make my own siopao or meat buns. I have never prepared it before but I am interested to learn and cook. I miss eating siopao though.
I am also thinking to cook Chicken Lok Lak, it’s a Cambodian meal that is very easy to cook. I need to ask my husband to buy me some chicken meat.
I know I am not the best cook but I am just trying myself recreate some Pinoy food here.
There are some things I can’t find here in France like the malunggay leaves, papaya, and ampalaya. I miss eating utan bisaya and ampalaya with egg.
To all moms out there, will you please suggest some Filipino recipes I can prepare for my family? Healthy recipes will do.
