MABUHAY! Welcome to my blog again. For today's blog, I will be participating in the logo contest for . I'm not good at making logos, and in past contests to make logos that I participated in, I used editor applications to satisfy my imagination. But this time, it is very hard for me to think about the design of my entry for this logo contest.
Nahihirapan ako mag-isip after ko mabasa yung post kasi english eh. Charought! Kasi, nakasanayan na natin yung logo ng HIVEPH at gaya ng iba pang nasalihan ko parang hindi ako sanay na baguhin nila yung logos nila.
Another reason why It was very difficult for me to think about the design of my logo because our Philippine flag is not allowed to be used, so I don't know which thing about the Philippines I should include as a representation of being a "PINOY" because we got used to using flags if we made some things like this. The first thing that we will put up is, of course, the flags of our country(ies), and sometimes the color of the fonts and designs should be from the flags too.
There is this first attempt that I made based on my imagination. However, for me, the design is very boring. Like, after I drew it, I asked myself, "So, what now?" or "What is the next thing that I will put here and there?"
I let someone I know see my supposed entry because I would like to know what their opinion and thoughts were about the design. But the word is supposed to be just HIVEPH only and not HIVE PHILIPPINES, so I rethink some new design that I would put because the name is too short and it's not good to look at in the first design that I draw.
But this design is very plain to me. I mean, I cannot continue to edit it more into a logo because it's too plain and it's not suitable as a logo here on HIVE since when I saw some logos of other communities, they were more in simple designs, including the previous HivePH logo too.
I think carefully about the design of my logo. Since our Philippine country flag is not allowed to be used, I'm just being careful because of the law. I can think of other things that we can put aside from our Philippine country flag. There are some animals, places, and other things that can be used as symbols of our country. Of course, a Philippine Eagle is one of the things that I choose to put in my logo. However, it's too hard for me to think about how I can design my logo with our Eagle.
So, the word "Kalayaan," or freedom, comes into my mind. a Filipino around the world's freedom of speech through writing blogs and supporting each other to grow here on HIVE.
So I drew using Ibispaint-X for the second time. I tried to imagine the design and how I could draw it. A human is symbolized as a Filipino with the logo of a hive on the back, and a bee bites the human on the cheeks. Haha, but I don't think it was a good look to put in the logo, and so, for the third time, this time I wanted to put in more effort and think more about what I could draw as a design.
So I draw again using Ibispaint-X. A human symbolizing as a Filipino and holding a microphone symbolizes freedom of speech, a bee as a symbol of Hive, and a Hive logo too. These are the things that I imagined as designs.
Another problem came. I don't know what words I will use. So I decided to just translate the famous word in the Philippines, "Mabuhay ang Pilipinas," into the different kinds of languages that we are using in our country: Baybayin, Tagalog, Ilokano, and Cebuano. However, I think it was very biased since there are more languages that I didn't put here.
So I decided just to put the Hive Ph tag line, "Supporting Filipinos Worldwide," around. I am satisfied with the outcome. Since I think this is fine for me already, I don't know if this has passed on the expectations, but what's most important is that I did try my best to draw what I imagined.
Now that we are done talking about the logo, Let's try to put it on the
COVER IMAGE BANNERS
This is the difficult part for me. I don't know how I will use the logo that I drew and edited for the cover image banners. So, by looking at how the HIVEPH banner appears on every post that they publish or update, I got a little idea.
Of course, the idea of putting the QR code of the HivePH discord server that I used to make a Hive business card came to mind. The purpose is so that the new hivers or the people around the world, especially the Filipinos, who can see the Hiveph posts can be able to join in on the Hiveph Discord server. They just need to download the cover image banner, scan it on Google, and be redirected to the Hiveph Discord server.
Divider
I don't know what the design of my divider and footer would be. I skipped this part because I am not good at designing things like this for blogs. As you know, if you read my blogs, I didn't put anything on the end of my blogs like how the artistic and talented people do on their blogs, and actually, I envy them because they can make their blogs look good and creative.
Anyway, this is just the divider that I am able to submit. The two hands that almost hold their hands mean "supporting" each other, as what the tagline of the HIVEPH means: supporting Filipinos worldwide, am I right? And then, the two things besides their hands were called "Laurel Wreaths," which symbolized that the laurel leaves stand for honor, signifying vibrancy: growth, friendship, renewal, and opportunity.

Back to the hive business card entry that I made, I tried to remake it and change the previous logo of Hiveph that I put there to my logo entry right now. I wanted to make sure that the logo would still look good and be suitable for the theme.
I also tried to test my logo entry in Smartmockups on Canva to see if it would look good on shirts, mugs, and stickers, as an example. Just in case this logo wins, they also plan to print it on shirts or other things in the future.
These are all my entries for the Hiveph community contest for the hashtag #bagongmukha. If you would like to participate in or join this contest, you can check out their blog post here. You still have 12 days to participate in this contest.
So what do you think about my logo? Feel free to comment with your thoughts! Thanks for your time reading!
