Hello to all members of this community, craft and sewing lovers! Before going on my trip, I was working on some Christmas-themed sewing projects to offer for sale in my online shop Suecitos, such as Christmas bags, as well as Christmas hats in the clowncore style. However, at the last minute, I decided to make one more bag before traveling, based on a Christmas tree, and I liked it so much that I wanted to show you this little tutorial, in case you want to make your own.
To make the bag, I first created a pattern roughly in the shape of a morning glory tree from a school notebook, as I wanted it to have enough space to carry a few things (a water bottle, wipes, a book, etc.). For the cutting, I used dark green stiff fabric, which I cut into the shape of the tree (two pieces), some additional rectangular pieces for the lining, strips of green fabric for the drawstring, a small piece of fabric to simulate the trunk, and a couple of star-shaped pieces from yellow felt. I also used one of my labels and the appropriate drawstring for this type of bag.
The first thing I did was sew the star shape all around the edge, making an opening so I could turn the piece right side out. And for the tree trunk, I sewed it open at one end so I could turn it right side out. It's worth mentioning that I did this part by eye, without any measurements, because it was basically an experiment, haha.
Next, I made sure to sew my shop's label next to the tree trunk at the bottom of the front piece of the bag. I thought it was a nice touch and much cooler than just leaving the label sticking out at one end of the bag.
Once that was done, I made hems along the top edge of both sides of the bag (front and back), wide enough for the drawstring to pass through. Next, I placed the two pieces right sides together and sewed them, remembering to attach the small pieces of green fabric I had previously sewn to the bottom edges (at both corners). (I forgot to take a picture when I folded and sewed them 🙃). The drawstrings are then attached to this part using a pin or safety pin.
For the lining, I thought the best way was to make it rectangular, so that it would cover the entire size of the bag, excluding the corners. I sewed it open at the top, sewing that part directly onto the top of the bag (as seen in the photograph), leaving an opening to turn it right side out.
After turning the bag inside out, I closed the opening with a hand stitch. I took a picture of how the bag's lining looks from the outside. I like it because it only takes up enough storage space to hold things without them getting lost at the tops of the tree. Although, another option would be to add a layer of padding to the bag pieces (I plan to make another bag this way), but at least as it is, I think it looks good.
Next, I stuffed the star to give it more volume and closed the opening where I had turned it inside out and stuffed it. Once the star was ready, I was able to sew it to the middle of the top of the bag with a hand stitch.
And that's how the bag was finished ✨ My idea was to first make some frills or embroidery to sew on before making the bag itself, but I thought I could use some pins to serve as frills, so I could change them whenever I wanted.
As I mentioned, I made this bag for personal use, but I loved the result, so I've been thinking about making some modifications for the designs I'll be making next year, such as changing the type of material and adding some accessories that could make the piece more durable and customizable. On the other hand, I'm happy to have a perfect little bag to use during these days when I'm taking a few days off from my workshop. I'm hoping these "rest" days will help me with my creativity 😌 With that said, have happy holidays and don't forget to take things easy! 🤗✨

¡Hola a todos los integarntes de esta comunidad, amantes de las manualidades y de la costura! Antes de irme de viaje, estuve realizando algunos proyectos de costura con temática navideña para ofrecer a la venta en mi tienda virtual Suecitos, como lo fueron unos bolsos navideños, así como unos gorros navideños al estilo clowncore. Sin embargo, a último momento, me animé a elaborar un bolso más antes de viajar, basado en un árbol de navidad y me gustó tanto que quise mostrarles éste pequeño tutorial, por si desean hacer los suyos.
Para elaborar el bolso, realicé primero un patrón en forma del árbol del mañano más o menos de una libreta escolar, pues quería que tuviera suficiente espacio para poder llevar algunas cosas (botella de agua, toallas húmedas, un libro...). A la hora de cortar, utilicé tela rígida de color verde oscuro, la cual corté en forma del árbol (dos piezas), unas piezas adicionales en forma de rectángulo para elaborar el forro, unas tiras de tela verde para colocar el cordón, un trocito de tela para simular el tronco, así como corté un par de piezas en forma de estrella en fieltro de color amarillo. Adicional a ello, utilicé una de mis etiquetas y el cordón respectivo para éste tipo de bolsos.
Lo primero que hice, fue coser la figura de la estrella por todo el borde, haciendo una abertura para poder voltear la pieza. Y en el caso del tronco del árbol, cosí dejando abierto en uno de los extremos para poder voltear la pieza. cabe mencionar que realicé esta parte al ojo por cierto, es decir, sin ningún tipo de medida, porque basicamente se trataba de un experimento jaja.
Luego, me aseguré de coser la etiqueta de mi tienda, junto al tronco del árbol en la parte inferior de la pieza delantera del bolso. Me pareció un lindo detalle y más genial que simplemente dejar la etiqueta sobresaliendo en uno de los extremos del bolso.
Una vez hecho esto, hice unos dobladillos en la parte superior de ambas parted del bolso (delantero y trasero), lo suficientemente ancha para que pasase el cordón. Seguidamente, enfrenté ambas piezas y las cosí, sin olvidar colocar en la parte inferior de los laterales (en ambas puntas), los trocitos de tela de color verde que había cosido previamente (olvidé fotografiar cuando les hice unos dobleces y los cosí 🙃). En esta parte, se colocan los cordones con la ayuda de un alfiler o imperdible.
En el caso del forro, pensé que la mejor forma era realizarlo de forma rectangular, de forma que abarcase todo el tamaño del bolso, sin contar las puntas. Cosí dejando abierto en la parte superior, cosiendo precisamente esa parte en la parte superior del bolso (como se ve en la fotografía), dejándo una abertura para poder voltearlo.
Tras voltear el bolso, cerré la abertura con una costura a mano. Tomé una fotografia de cómo se aprecia el forro del bolso por fuera. Me gusta porque ocupa sólo el espacio de guardado suficiente para guardar cosas sin que se pierdan en las puntas del árbol. Aunque, otra opción sería colocarle una capa de relleno a las piezas del bolso (tengo pensado hacer otro bolso de esta forma), pero al menos así, creo que luce bien.
Luego, rellené la estrella para darle mayor volumen y cerré la abertura por donde la volteée y rellené. Teniendo lista la estrella, pude coserla en la mitad de la parte superior del bolso, con una costura a mano.
Y de esa forma, el bolso estuvo terminado ✨ Mi idea era hacer primero unas bambalinas o bordados para coser primero antes de elaborar el bolso como tal, pero pensé en que podía utilizar algunos pines para que cumpliesen la función de bambalinas, de modo que podría cambiarlas cuando quisiera.
Como mencioné, elaboré este bolso para uso personal, pero me encantó el resultado, así que he pensado en hacerle unas remodelaciones para los próximos diseños que fabrique para el próximo año, como el tipo de material y algunos accesorios que puedan hacer la pieza más resistente y con posibilidades de customización. Por otro lado, me siento feliz de tener un bolsito perfecto para usar en estos días en los que me encuentro tomándome unos días libres en mi taller, tengo la esperanza que estos días de "descanso" me ayuden en mi parte creativa 😌 Sin más que agregar ¡Que tengan felices fiestas y no olviden tomarse las cosas con calma! 🤗✨
