Por ese motivo hoy escogí el tema de las Isoras, de la familia Rubiaceae, nativa de la India (Sri Lanka), muy utilizadas por sus abundantes flores durante todo el año y su resistencia en climas cálidos.
Se le conocen como Cruz de Malta, Coralillo o Santa Rita y Rangan, entre otro.
Destacan por ser muy ramificadas y tupidas, tienen diferentes alturas, tamaño de las hojas, y la flor de acuerdo a la especie, se estima que existen 400.
The Isoras were one of my mother's favourite plants (Q.E.P.D), she enjoyed caring for them and used to say that "they are permanent bouquets of flowers in the garden".That is why today I chose the theme of the Isoras, from the Rubiaceae family, native to India (Sri Lanka), widely used for its abundant flowers throughout the year and its resistance in hot climates.
They are known as the Maltese Cross, Coralillo or Saint Rita and Rangan, among others.
They stand out for being highly branched and dense, they have different heights, size of the leaves, and the flower according to the species, it is estimated that there are 400.
Its leaves are green, elongated and with smooth profiles. Its flowers, made up of four petals, are very abundant, usually orange, red, yellow or white (the least common). They grow very close together, creating bouquets that stand out for their beauty and colour, this being one of the most outstanding characteristics of the Isoras.

For ornamental purposes it is usually pruned, often used to highlight the boundaries of an area, or as a permanent decoration in gardens for the leafy bouquets the plant becomes.Some examples in the following images:

It can be grown in a pot and in the ground. It is slow growing, and requires care in its initial stage until it becomes a shrub. By combining patience and care, wonderful results are obtained.To flower it needs incidence of the sun, not excessive and frequent watering.
