Changing things up

Now normally I just run a report, click send a bunch of times, and call it a day when I send out the weekly GLS tokens to those people who are delegating to Hive account@hiveabbyftp and/or holding the GLD token.

Unfortunately today I noticed that the Hive account@gldrewards account was out of GLS to send and missed a few payments.

Yes, my mistake. I did say that the community is still in the process of getting all the kinks worked out... and this weeks distributions will be oversized. My goal is to get it automated but right now only semi-automated.

I noticed because things are changing.

I looked more closely this week for one big reason. I'm changing up how things are being paid.

Previously I was paying every holder of the GLD token. However, that meant that a lot of dead accounts were receiving GLS tokens and those tokens would effectively be given out to people who weren't supporting the community or Hive as a whole. As a result I made the decision to distribute tokens to those people who were active and those were were inactive? They had their distribution decreased by 3% for every day they hadn't posted or commented on anything.

Again, I'm still working out the details of how the community and coin are going to work and more changes likely to come up before I settle things :)

But there was a bigger issue.

Some people on my send list weren't actually people I should be sending to. Weird.

As an example:

wilhb81 came up as a delegator... But...

They aren't actually delegating to the curation account so why is my program saying I should pay them. (sigh) Another bug to work out.

Then I ran out of GLS tokens so only some people got paid

Sure ... some people got paid.... but when I went to check how much I accidentally sent to wilhb81 (who shouldn't have gotten anything) I found out that once I ran out of GLS tokens it stopped paying. Hooray! My error turned into a good thing :)

Cleaning up

I just went back into the site and made sure to send GLS again once I topped up the account :)

Then I did a sanity check :)

Hive account@drstealth should be paid for sure because they have 20 GLD tokens and 20 delegated HP. But I ran some sanity math because 0.0354 HIVE seemed off. But let me show the math so you can judge:

20 Hive Delegated * 8% / 52 weeks/year = 0.0307... seems right.

20 GLD held * 0.162 Hive/GLD * 6.8% / 52 weeks/year = 0.0042... seems right.

Total : 0.0349 ... Okay because of rounding it gave 0.0354... Close enough for me.

Hive account@gwajnberg 651 GLD held * 0.162 Hive/GLD * 8% / 52/year = 0.1622... Close enough

But then I looked closer and Hive account@drstealth is delegating 100HP but only got credited for 20HP. Ouch

End Result

I'll manually send Hive account@drstealth some more GLD tokens as he seemed to get ripped off a bit. The current version of the calculator isn't working quite right...

But then again I have more work to be done on things so lets hope the next version works a little better.
