My second day practicing mindful walking. I can’t believe how simple it is to fix my walk and posture. Paying attention to my feet on the ground is so effective it feels like a hack. I’ve been working on my posture for a decade, and I don’t have to figure out how I’m out of alignment when I pay attention to my feet on the ground!
Heel first, and then rolling my foot to the toes, the entire foot touching the ground evenly. It really slows down my walk. It also really deepened my breath and calmed me! Being deliberate feels so good.
As soon as my mind would wander, there I was again leaning forward and walking on the front of my feet. I also realized I was jutting my hips to the right which was quite a revelation. I was shocked by how pronounced it was. Things I had tried to fix with my chiropractor for years!
If you take walks for your daily exercise, please try mindful walking and share what your experience was with the tag #mindfulwalkingactifit so I can read!
Now this mindful walking was taking a long time to get those steps in, so I did some dancing to ‘80s Janet Jackson again today. I read somewhere the other day that your passion in life is the thing you used to love to do outside of play as a kid. I LOVED to make up dances. But I stopped dancing! I had a block to dancing, and that’s really sad! I guess ‘80s pop is the key to clearing my dance block! It’s what I danced to when I was little after all!
Now two Janet Jackson songs later I still had a few steps left, so I practiced a little twerking. 🙂 (which stacks steps fast FYI! If you need to get some activity in quick, give twerking a try.)
So I would say that it has been about the most rewarding day one can ask for. I learned a ton about walking right and fixing my posture, I broke through my dancing block, and I’m FINALLY learning how to twerk. My inner child is VERY satisfied. 💃 👧
