Mieliśmy na wczoraj inne plany, ale musieliśmy je zweryfikować i dostosować do warunków pogodowych, dlatego zamiast do Trewiru pojechaliśmy do Koblencji. Położone u zbiegu Renu i Mozeli miasto posiada bogatą historię, ponad oferuje wiele ciekawych miejsc do odwiedzenia. Jednak nasze pierwsze wrażenie po wyjściu z parkingu podziemnego w centrum miasta było: „co jest? Jechaliśmy do Koblencji, a trafiliśmy do Akwizgranu”. Deptak z licznymi sklepami jest niemal identyczny jak w Akwizgranie, dopiero po chwili dostrzegliśmy różnice.
W pierwszych krokach kierując się w stronę Renu poszliśmy zobaczyć majestatyczny Schloss Kobenz z przyległymi ogrodami. Pałac zbudowano na początku XVIII wieku w stylu klasycystycznym, niedostępny do zwiedzania, ale po ogrodach można spacerować do woli. Ładnie prezentują się od strony rzeki. Spacerując wzdłuż rzeki podziwialiśmy z daleka Twierdzę Ehrenbreistein, można tam szybko dostać się kolejką linową nad rzeką, ale żona uznała, że stąd lepiej widać.
W miejscu połączenia Mozeli i Renu w XIX wieku wzniesiono monumentalny 37-metrowy pomnik jeźdźca na koniu Deutsches Eck, zbudowano go jako symbol zjednoczenia Niemiec. Spacer po malowniczych uliczkach Starego Miasta, gdzie znajdują się urokliwe kamienice i kawiarnie, był bardzo udany. Jedyny moment kiedy rozpadało się na dobre, spędziliśmy w jednej z kawiarni, ale kiedy wychodziliśmy, było już po deszczu. Mamy nadzieję, że dziś w drodze powrotnej uda nam się zobaczyć Trewir.
[ENG] We had different plans for yesterday, but had to change them to suit the weather conditions, so instead of going to Trier we went to Koblenz. Situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, the city has a rich history and plenty of interesting places to visit. However, our first impression as we left the underground car park in the city centre was 'what is this? We were going to Koblenz and ended up in Aachen. The pedestrian area with its many shops is almost identical to Aachen, and it took us a while to notice the differences.
The first thing we did on our way to the Rhine was to visit the majestic Koblenz castle and gardens. The palace, built in the early 18th century in the classicist style, is not open to the public, but you can walk around the gardens to your heart's content. They are beautifully presented from the river side. Walking along the river, we admired the Ehrenbreistein fortress from afar; you can get there quickly by cable car across the river, but my wife thought the view was better from here.
At the confluence of the Moselle and the Rhine, a monumental 37 metre high statue of a horseman, Deutsches Eck, was erected in the 19th century as a symbol of German unification. We enjoyed a stroll through the picturesque streets of the old town, with its charming townhouses and cafés. It was only in one of the cafés that it finally broke up, but by the time we left it was over. We hope to see Trier on our way back today.
