A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.
A fair day of sunshine illuminates the day while the temperature is quite pleasant having lowered by about ten degrees thanks to the effect of the mistral wind.
After lunch I take my son Gaetano and I take him to the nearby town of Portici. Even if he has dozed off he is always #alive moving continuously. He does a nice nap I think about how to make him live in the funniest way the episode number 48 of my #iamalivechallenge.
I hoped to let him visit the woods of the botanical garden but unfortunately I found it closed. It never reopened after it was devastated by the terrible effects of weather phenomena associated with a rare supercell. A phenomenon that in my almost fifty years of life I have seen, with my own eyes, once on my region. Unfortunately, the effects of climate change are increasingly recurrent in Italy.
Instead the park of the palace of Portici was open and Gaetano and I could challenge each other in a race to the last drop of sweat. Of course you can imagine who won. Of course we are really brave to run after the Neapolitan Sunday lunch.
Portici has a beautiful little port called "il Granatello" very picturesque and rich in volcanic sand beaches. The city, in fact, rises on lava flows of Vesuvius that often have reached the sea on this side. Devastating the city several times in the past. The most tragic was the terrible Subplinian explosion of 1631 in which thousands of Eu people perished whose effects traumatized so much the then viceroy, Emanuele Fonseca Zunica, who left a plaque at the port in which he wrote a touching letter to his citizens warning them how important it was to flee rather than think about saving their assets.
Despite the time just after Sunday lunch the beach was quite crowded and there were many brave people who were taking a bath. The temperature of the water, judging by the faces of those who entered the water, was not at all pleasant.
After the beach we took a walk on the lighthouse pier. The sea was not those of the calmest and the waves slammed on the imposing cliffs of ash black color. The humidity of the day was overwhelming and the backgrounds in the photos were bleached by the color of water vapor.
Vesuvius, this afternoon, was hiding behind a thick blanket of unsavory clouds. In short, the dangers of accompanying each other.
We spent an extraordinary day together to repeat even better. I refer you to the next actifit report for another adventure to tell. See you soon.
