In this case it was grandpa's birthday cake and we ate it. I ate it, my grandpa ate it, everyone ate it. So the saying you can't have you cake and eat it too didn't apply this time.
Although I'm pretty sure the actual saying doesn't actually refer to cakes. But you figure it out yourself.
It was my grandfather's 94th birthday. Looking as good as ever, he rocked the party.

But the cake my gradma makes, is my absolute favorite since my childhood. It's called Napoleon's Cake, but I don't really know if the great military leader actually ever had anything to do with the cake.
And just like everyone feels towards their grandma's cookings - mines' the best. She uses self-made apple jam instead of those red jams that you often find in the storebought versions (but these are sometimes quite delish too, but they just can't beat my grandma's cooking). I'm thinking I really need to learn her recipe.
^^This is how other people make it, according to google. Not sure if this a cake made internationally or specific to our part of the earth only (just Googled it - it seems everyone makes it, just a bit differently).
So now you know. If you ever need to win me over or bribe me, you can do that with a nice bite of Napoleon Cake.
