Question for the most from Malaysia and Singapore: How Many Lou Sang have you already taken? 🤣
The one salad that most Malaysians do not mind having only once a year? That requires everyone to participate because it is can be too sweet and sour, is the prosperity toss!
tried to make "fishes" in the design
You technically won't be able to find it anywhere on the shelf after the Chinese New Year in Malaysia and Singapore unless you do it yourself.
However I have heard that during this period, even Hong Kong is available these days
Invented and started trending in Malaysia (just so you know Singapore was once part of Malaysia too), this has been decades long tradition that the Chinese community will do during this auspicious festive season for the very purpose to "toss" for better prosperity.
The diversity of the ingredients is also crucial for certain reasons, as each ingredient does traditionally have its own meaning. However I cannot remember all of them now. If I ever come across it I will update it.
The main "combine" essence is the plum, honey and oil. With the chinese 5-spice powdered herbs and pepper, it creates a really unique sweet-sour flavour with the meaning of the ups and downs in life.
There is also another tradition my side of the community loved to uphold, which is for the New Year, there's new chopsticks.
Chopsticks represents "ability to earn money" (will never grow hungry) to my community, and I always remembered that the elderly wanted me to keep the new chopsticks gifted for special events is to be blessed with the ability to keep the earning flow coming in.
And this is one culture I'd love to pass down to my colleagues as a blessing to them that they will never run out of proper revenue in their lives.
Getting them new chopsticks is my personal joy to encourage them.
So far, I have already had 4 lou sang events this festive season. There's one last one I am having before I feel OD with this sweet-sour dish 🤣
Last year I had equally this number. I think 5 is a good number 🤣
(5 is number of grace for biblical believes)
How about you?
Have you ever tried this before?
Please take note that this is not a typical Chinese culture. This is specifically started in Malaysia and Singapore.
Until Then
Stay healthy, stay curious and learn new things, and stay happy!
