Hello, fellow Hiveans!
It’s been a long while since I’ve posted.
I’ve been busy, away from my husband and my kiddos down in the big city, taking care of my parents who have both been in and out of hospitals for various reasons.
Getting to the point in life of caring for my parents is a new stage for me. It’s a bewildering thing, to step back and see the big picture of life and how quickly it all goes by. To make dinner, clean, provide transport and advocate for one’s parents really does bring the stages of life into focus.
While in & out of the big city hospitals for over a week, I managed to contract Covid 19. To protect my parents, I immediately had to head back up to our little piece of the Ozarks and quarantine. That was 14 days ago.
I had a fairly rough go of it for about 5 days. Cleared of fever and recovered from symptoms, I thought for sure I would be able to rejoin the world and shed the mask… alas, today I am still testing positive.
It is beyond frustrating to be stuck in quarantine, unable to totally care for my own household or be available to care for my parents when they need me. Although the almighty CDC states that I am okay to rejoin the world while masked, I can’t put my immune-compromised parents and son at risk.
So, after I cursed awhile at the still-positive test, I sought solace in the forest. I can’t hold hands with my husband, but we were able to share the sunshine and trees and see the new spring growth that promises renewal.
It was a beautiful but quick hike, as my body isn’t able to complete our trail yet. A short hike feels like a marathon run, and the frustration that accompanies the betrayal of my lungs and heart all too easily seeped back in upon returning to my quarantine room. I know time will deal with the virus in my system, just as the flowers have returned after the ice.
I’m hoping in a few more days I can clear a test and return to being useful to life and my loved ones. In the meantime, it’s more Lysol, masks, and isolation.
Take care out there, keep safe, and hug your loved ones. Take every moment in!
