Down here in the Ozarks it was an overcast 88 degrees Fahrenheit by the thermometer today, but with humidity the “RealFeel” temp was 106… that’s some serious humidity.
Unaware that the clouds were going to break and unleash the sun upon us later in our hike, and I took a new hiking path today to see what we could see. It was a wider path than our regular trail, and therefore mostly out of the shade of the forest canopy.
The small creatures were enjoying being out after the recent pouring rains and storms, and we were fortunate enough to see several.
In addition to the fun wildlife, the mosquitoes 🦟 were out in droves. Despite the picaridin all over me I received several bites. Ozark mosquitoes mean business.
Mushrooms were also everywhere, soaking up the moisture and thriving.
By the time we were headed back, the dreaded sun emerged and the breeze all but stopped. The humidity weighed down on us, and by the time we finished the trail we looked like we had gone swimming.
Rather than checking out another trail we decided we were done with the humidity and the insects for awhile. At least until tomorrow, when we head back out to sweat, swat the unending mosquitoes, and search for wildlife all over again! 😁
All #photography in this post was taken by me, , with my iPhone6, of our #aliveandthriving #actifit life. Thanks for reading, now #gotakeahike! 🦋
