I am hiking with a party of 4. We have two cars. Today we decided to leave one car where we are staying (call it “place A””) and drive to our hiking starting place (“B”) in my car. The hiking route had been planned as a loop - returning to B
Midway through (let’s call it place “C”), due to rain and a thunderstorm on our way, we decided to shorten the hike and go directly to our place A. Then we would use the second car to retrieve my car from place B. Makes perfect sense.
However, one hour into our march downhill, the owner of the other car had a revelation- he had left his keys in my car. So we had to return uphill to place C and from there follow the original plan to place B…
We made some extra km in the rain. However, no one complained about going the extra miles and no one blamed the misfortunate colleague. I was actually quite happy, because the extra kilometres allowed me complete my target of 40k steps. And mountains in rain are beautiful (the thunderstorm and outpour somehow went different way)
