Our weekly day off and another visit to our favourite noodle shop by the sea in Bang Makham, just the other side of Nathorn, about 6km from home.
Now I'm not a big fan of Thai food. In my opinion, it's full of meat of dubious quality that's 90% fat, gristle and bones, and working out which ingredients are added just for flavour and not supposed to be eaten, but this small restaurant is one place I'll eat at. However, I always eat just one thing, the ubiquitous lat kra pho moo, which is simply spicy minced pork infused with Thai basil.
As you can see, it's served with rice, of course, and a nice fried egg. Its missing a few larger chilli's for the colour but it's very spicy and tastes great.
After that, time for a coffee at Amazon and whilst Christmas is becoming more popular in Thailand with ever more extravagant decorations, it's nice to see that Amazon had just given a little nod to the festive season with a few subtle decorations!
The santa hat seat back covers and minimal tree work for me!
The rest of the afternoon was spent meandering around before having tea at Nathorn night market (food only) and went for my favourite khao Yam gai sap, which is spicy fried chicken salad...with rice of course. The salad is basically only a few red onions and chopped greens from spring onions so the salad dodgers amongst us, don't need to worry!
Delicious. Its actually funny watching the few foreigners that come down here wandering the stalls trying to work out what the food actually is and if they can eat it! They usually end up at the crepe stall which gets the majority of the tourist dollars at this market!
All that remained to do was a quick trip to the end of the pier to see the sunset. After the washout that's been November, the weather has picked up in time for the high season to begin and we're getting crispy dry mornings and cloudless days...mainly!
This sunset was a beauty!
