A welcome respite from the hot and dry conditions as it was cool and mostly overcast for much of the day which made for a nice time to be outdoors.
A few morning sprinkles passed through early so it was great for a nice 4 mile loop on the trail.
I wasn't running too quickly but my pace had my heart rate at a good level and it felt good to be putting in miles on the dirt.
I did have a few minutes interruption when a big javelina blocked the trail and I had wait several minutes before he wandered off into the scrub.
We headed up to the top of Mingus Mountain fir a few miles on the rocky trails. The cloudy sky and wind made for relatively cool conditions at the 7000 foot elevation.
Since we were on the trail so I let Lulu roam out ahead off-leash.
The trail was quiet and we had no company as it wound through the pine forest. The rain has brought out more plants and a few groups of wildflowers.
We covered just over 3 miles as the sky grew darker and we headed back down to home.
