Greetings and salutations Hivers. Today let's go into another Evening Groove / Three Tune Tuesday post.

As always, thanks to for making this series. Lots of people participate in it! Follow the tags to find a ton of good music recommendation.
Today I have another mix of different genres. Trying to keep switching things up to stay interesting.

David Bowie - Heroes
According to Bowie, this song was directly inspired by a kiss he witnessed next to the Berlin Wall. The song is about two lovers, one from East Berlin and one from West Berlin, dreaming of freedom. The song was initially released as a single and didn't do very well, but as time went on the reputation of the song kept growing and growing to the point where many today consider it one of the greatest love songs and one of the best songs of all time.
Savatage - This Isn't What We Meant
This powerful song was from their ninth album Dead Winter Dead which was set during the Bosnian War and told a story from the perspective of a Serb boy, a Bosniak girl, and an old man. This particular song is from the old man's perspective and tells of the Siege of Sarajevo which left the city in ruins and of his return to a strange a different city. From the opening line ("We dared to ask for more" = change) to the closing verse ("...standing in a different city" = it's been so ruined by war it looks like a completely different place) this is an extremely powerful song.
If you liked that, I can't recommend the entire album enough.
Hiroshi Hata and Hidenobu Ootsuki - Chrono Trigger*
This is the lead off track of The Brink of Time, an acid jazz interpretation of the music from the SNES game Chrono Trigger. Video game music is given jazz versions a surprisingly amount of the time. I'm not sure exactly why this is. Jazz is pretty popular in Japan and most console video games come from Japan, so that could be a reason. Whatever the reason may be, I love jazz and my son loves listening to video game music, so it's a good combination for us.
Most of the arrangements are only so-so, but I really dig this first track. See if you do too.
Like I said, the rest of the album is only so-so, but still worth the listen.

So what's your favorite?
If you have some favorite songs, why not do your own post? gives out some Hive SBI for best post/song every week, so you may win some. I recently agreed to donate some SBI to the pot each week, so it is growing. Why not try?
