If you started to read this post, you are maybe already familiarized with the concept of this series of #OriginalvsCovers posts, which will, hopefully, come every Friday. I say hopefully as we never know what will bring tomorrow, but the time-frequency of this series starts to be clearer in my mind. In case you are reading for the first time an Original vc Covers post, here is a short concept of it:
I try to find during the week some song and different covers on video platforms, and one surprise hive user will be featured with the cover of that song at the end of my post. Why at the end? Not because it is not good, but to come as a surprise who will be the mysterious user. Yes, I know, you can easily scroll down and just look at who will be mentioned, but if you like the game, try not to do that. But of course, your choice how you read a post :) Actually, I will be happy knowing that someone will read it and discover a person who is giving this platform some good music content.
The browsing of the hive users and the picked song is so interesting! Sometimes challenging as I can not find a perfect match of a cover made by a hiver and a nice original song. Also, I like to call the found person a "victim" of my next post, although I hope the featured one will not feel that way, as a victim. The previous two editions brought and
, so who will be today here?
ORIGINAL SONG: When The Party's Over by Billie Eilish
The original song - music video for today is not a piece I fancy too much. When The Party's Over by Billie Eilish. Nothing wrong with the song, I like it, but I just felt weird watching the video clip when she drinks the black liquid and then a river of black tears comes out from her eyes. But I think I just have to watch it more times and maybe I will get used to the image. The song is kept simple, just vocals, piano and low register pitched bass. Billie Eilish has a whispery, soprano vocal range that along with her creativity, already brought her fame. In this song the vocal range goes within two octaves ! That is difficult!
COVER 1 by JHMJams
JHMJams is a group who make covers, as they say, by ear. In this cover, there are three cellists and one violinist. According to what I read in the description of one of the cellist, they tend to bring sometimes new instruments, so I suppose it is not always the same people playing for JHMJams covers. In this one, cover no. 341 they made, the musicians are Ken Kubota, cello, Sumire Hirotsuru, violin,
Isabel Kwon, cello and Noah Koh, cello. They do express themselves in a very professional way. I would imagine any other classical work they play with the same passion and elegance, making a perfect harmony as they show in this cover. Love their clear and harmonic sound!!
COVER 2 by Cimorelli
Six sisters who sing awesome decide to make covers? Cool! I like the gestures, the choreography, in fact, those are the small details that make the video more interesting. Of course, they sing very well. The song that interests us here ends at 3:40. Later, they answer the questions of their fans and go a little crazy. But I included them in this post of their amazing acapella singing.
COVER 3 by Pellekofficial
I am so happy I found this metal cover. I needed some more saturated sound, after just vocals or nice, elegant strings. Although this is more like a metal ballad, and respecting the pauses in the original song, here too the music is interrupted and takes a breath when needed.
COVER 4 by Raynes
My most simple but honest description would be: Three guys singing, and one of them playing different instruments (electric guitar, keyboards and violin). Their singing is extraordinary, in harmony and sound edition is professionally done. The guy who sings the lead part has a nice, deep voice. Well done, Raynes.
And, who will be the #hive user who made a cover of this song? I discovered this user about more than a week ago when he published a song, playing the guitar and singing like an angel. I knew he will come one day to be my featured hiver. So, ladies and gentlemen, Ithil on the scene:
COVER 5 by
I heard his pain through his voice, and the full story behind this recording is given in his post.
He described that it was a lonely period in his life. A long term relationship ended for him... and this song was maybe an emotional valve that could help him in the healing process (my conclusion). Correct me if I am wrong. He captured the moment of his pain and sadness. Luckily, that is over now and he walks with brighter thoughts through his life. I wish him a lot of bright moments here in hive platform too, and he deserves more exposure, that is for sure. This post that he published 3 days ago still can be checked out and upvoted, so if you like and wish to support him, don't stop yourself.
So, let me know, what is your opinion of the young singer with special voice, Billie Eilish? What about the covers, they are good, do you agree? Anyway, if you didnt like them, let me know as well :)
