Another flashback to October 2020 in Patras. This time out I went up into the mountains for a change. It was a cloudy day, though not (yet) raining & the sun came through once in a while.	Wieder ein Rückblick auf den Oktober 2020 in Patras. Diesmal ging es ausnahmsweise in die Berge. War ein wolkiger Tag, aber (noch) ohne Regen & die Sonne kam auch ab & zu mal durch.

On my way uphill towards the east & then south-east of Patras, I followed a canal for a time.	Auf dem Weg bergauf in den Osten & dann Südosten von Patras folgte ich für eine Weile einem Kanal.

As you can see, a very well-maintained canal. Very dry, as well. I suppose, it's only really useful in winter, when it rains a lot. But still, I don't understand why you have such a canal & then let it rot away like that.	Wie man sieht, ein sehr gut unterhaltener Kanal. Auch sehr trocken. Vermute, daß er nur im Winter, wenn es viel regnet, gefüllt ist. Trotzdem seltsam, daß man so einen Kanal baut & ihn dann so verfallen läßt.

On the right photo above you can see that the ground of the canal was actually quite massive. Must have taken a lot of water to erode it so badly.	Auf dem rechten Bild oben sieht man, wie massiv der Grund des Kanals mal war. Muß sehr viel Wasser gebraucht haben, um ihn derart zu erodieren.

A bit further uphill, the usual picture: garbage illegally dumped.	Etwas weiter bergauf das übliche Bild: eine illegale Müllhalde.

A nice big hole had formed in the clouds above the hills in eastern Patras. Gave some nice colours, once I zoomed in:	In den Wolken über den Hügeln im Osten Patras' hatte sich ein nettes Loch gebildet. Das Telezoom brachte die Farben zum Glühen:

All could be so nice, but then you are always quickly reminded that reality is grey. Grey like smoke, that is:	Könnte alles so schön sein, aber dann wird man schnell wieder an die graue Realität erinnert. D.h., grau wie Rauch:

Particularly in winter, they burn a lot of garden & field waste in Patras, which sometimes, if the weather is right, leads to a kind of fog, although there is almost no industry in the city.	Besonders im Winter werden in Patras viele Garten- & Feldabfälle verbrannt, was bei manchen Wetterlagen zu einer Art Fog führt, obwohl es kaum Industrie in der Stadt gibt.

Then I reached Saravali, where I found this little gem of a church. It is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (ΙΕΡΟΣ ΝΑΟΣ ΚΟΙΜΗΣΕΩΣ ΤΗΣ ΘΕΟΤΟΚΟΥ), & I described in greater detail in my post "Churches of Patras no.9".	Dann erreichte ich Saravali, wo ich dieses kleine Juwel fand. Es handelt sich um die Kirche Mariä Himmelfahrt (ΙΕΡΟΣ ΝΑΟΣ ΚΟΙΜΗΣΕΩΣ ΤΗΣ ΘΕΟΤΟΚΟΥ), die ich in "Kirchen in Patras # 9" näher vorstellte.

From the church, you have a great view on virtually all of Patras. Also towards the aforementioned fire, where you could see the smoke spread.	Von der Kirche aus hat man einen großartigen Blick auf fast ganz Patras. Auch auf das oben erwähnte Feuer, wo man sah, wie sich der Rauch ausbreitete.

The first photo above shows a view towards the city centre of Patras, with the north coast of the Gulf of Patras in the background. Below it is the eastern part of town at the foot of the Panachaiko mountain range.	Das erste Foto oben zeigt den Blick auf das Zentrum von Patras, mit der Nordküste des Golfes von Patras im Hintergrund. Darunter ist der Ostteil der Stadt am Fuße des Panachaiko-Gebirges.

Zoomed in towards the Gulf of Patras. The first picture shows the ferry port of Patras with in the background the mountain Varasova at the Gulf's north coast. The second one shows the city center with the Klokova in the background.	Der Golf von Patras im Telezoom. Das obere Bild zeigt den Fährhafen von Patras mit dem Berg Varasova an der Nordküste des Golfes im Hintergrund. Das untere zeigt das Stadtzentrum mit dem Klokova im Hintergrund.

& another fire in the south of Patras. But still looks nice with the sky coloured by the late afternoon sun.	& noch ein Feuer im Süden von Patras. Sieht aber doch nett aus, mit dem von der Nachmittagssonne gefärbten Himmel.

A ferry coming in. Shows nicely the relations, how huge such a ferry is compared to houses.	Ein Fähre fährt ein. Zeigt gut die Größenverhältnisse im Vergleich mit den Häusern.

After that I went downhill again. Where I found this house in a great location. I thought, it was one of the many houses in Patras where they stopped building because of a lack of money. But it looks like it had already been finished, then torn open again to renovate it. Upon which the money ran out & they left the house open.	Danach ging es wieder bergab, wo ich dieses Haus in herausragender Lage fand. Dachte, es sei ein Neubau, der wegen Geldmangels gestoppt worden war. Aber sieht so aus, als sei das Haus schon fertig gewesen, man wollte es renovieren & dann ging das Geld aus. Weshalb man es so offen gelassen hat.

Some pigeons obviously liked it & took the opportunity to build their nest inside.	Einigen Tauben gefiel dies & sie ergriffen die Gelegenheit, um darin ein Nest zu bauen.

That would have been the view from the living room. & with that missed opportunity of a house, that should be it for today. Have some more photos from the same day, but that would have been a bit much. So, they'll be in the next SMS View. For now, just a few more pics:	Das wäre der Blick aus dem Wohnzimmer gewesen. & mit dieser verpaßten Gelegenheit eines Hauses soll es das für heute gewesen sein.
