A light painting meet up with

, Hans, Erik, Felix, Ebs and myself was planned for the Easter weekend in Görlitz. So Geane and I packed the car and headed south-east.
The journey didn't go quite as I had imagined. Of course I expected an Easter traffic jam, but a nine-hour journey!? The first evening went with it. After arriving at the holiday apartment, I was just happy to be able to go to bed.

Am Osterwochenende war ein Lightpainting Meet Up mit , Ramona, Geane, , Marlene, , , , Hans, Erik, Felix, Ebs und mir in Görlitz geplant. Also packten Geane und ich das Auto und fuhren Richtung Süd-Osten los.
Die Anreise lief nicht ganz so, wie ich mir das vorgestellt habe. Natürlich rechnete ich mit einem Osterstau, aber neun Stunden Anreise!? Der erste Abend war damit gelaufen. Ich war nach dem Eintreffen in der Ferienwohnung einfach nur froh, mich ins Bett legen zu dürfen.

We met on the third evening at the “Brauner Hirsch” inn on the Untermarkt. I didn't know the location yet and looked around there first. You don't get a setting like this every day. The building is several centuries old and scenes from some world-famous films, some of which won Oscars, were filmed here. Films like "Grand Budapest Hotel", "Goethe", "The Young Karl Marx" and "The Captain" to name just a few.
Im Gasthof „Brauner Hirsch“ am Untermarkt trafen wir uns am dritten Abend. Ich kannte die Location noch nicht und schaute mich dort erstmal um. Solche Kulisse bekommt man nicht alle Tage geboten. Das Gebäude ist mehrere Jahrhunderte alt und hier wurden Szenen einiger weltbekannten, teilweise Oscar prämierten Filme gedreht. Filme wie "Grand Budapest Hotel", "Goethe", "Der junge Karl Marx" und "Der Hauptmann", um nur einige zu nennen.

The house is huge and crooked, so that each of us found a place to realize our own picture idea. I used the yard first. A really impressive backdrop! First I lit the scene with an orange CONVOY S2+. I then rotated the camera 180° around the optical axis using a CRT (Camera Rotation Tool) and then used a CONVOY S2+ with a bright blue LED to illuminate the same scene again. You can see the result as a title picture.
Das Haus ist riesig und verwinkelt, so dass jeder von uns einen Platz fand, die eigene Bildidee zu verwirklichen. Ich nutzte zu erst den Hof. Eine wirklich beeindruckende Kulisse! Zuerst leuchtete ich die Szene mit einer orangenen CONVOY S2+ aus. Danach drehte ich die Kamera mit Hilfe eines CRT (Kamera Rotations Tool) 180° um die optische Achse und benutzte dann eine CONVOY S2+ mit hell blauer LED um die gleiche Szene noch einmal auszuleuchten. Das Ergebnis seht ihr als Titelbild.

Before that I had implemented my actual picture idea. Here I used the same technique as in the cover photo. Only this time I used a CONVOY S2+ with a red and a blue LED. In addition, Geane placed herself in the middle of the passage. Then I fogged Geane a bit and briefly illuminated her from behind with an EMISAR D18.
Zuvor hatte ich meine eigentliche Bildidee umgesetzt. Hier habe ich die gleiche Technik wie im Titelbild angewendet. Nur benutzte ich diesmal eine CONVOY S2+ mit roter- und eine mit blauer LED. Außerdem stellte sich Geane in die Mitte des Durchgangs. Dann nebelte ich Geane etwas ein und leuchtete ich sie von hinten kurz mit einer EMISAR D18 an.

It didn't really go that well. So I left out the rotation and tried the whole thing again with orange/blue. As in the picture above. I left it at that. The next light painters were already ready and waiting to use the courtyard. So change of scene.
Das lief noch nicht so wirklich rund. Also ließ ich die Rotation weg und versuchte das Ganze noch einmal mit Orange/Blau. Dabei beließ ich es dann auch. Die nächsten Light-Painter standen schon bereit und warteten darauf den Hof zu nutzen. Also Szenenwechsel.
Görlitz
Finally, I would like to show you a few impressions from Görlitz. On the pictures above and below you can see the Untermarkt in Görlitz.
Zum Schluss möchte ich noch ein paar Impressionen aus Görlitz zeigen. Auf den Bildern oben und unten seht ihr den Untermarkt in Görlitz.
Scenes from over 100 films have been shot in Görlitz to date. The tower below was used as a backdrop in Inglourious Basterds.
In Görlitz wurden bisher Szenen aus über 100 Filmen gedreht. Der Turm unten diente in „Inglourious Basterds“ als Kulisse.
After the Second World War, Görlitz was divided by the Oder-Neisse border. The part of the city east of the Neisse came under Polish administration and has since been called Zgorzelec.
Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde Görlitz durch die Oder-Neiße-Grenze geteilt. Der östlich der Neiße gelegene Teil der Stadt kam unter polnische Verwaltung und wird seither Zgorzelec genannt.

What Is Light Painting?
Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
