Hello HIVEs!
When you go on a journey, you have a lot to tell...
Especially if you start your journey on Friday the 13th. However, the superstition applies both to the optimists, for whom the number 13 is a lucky number, and to the pessimists, who don't move out of the house on Friday the 13th. Well, for me, Friday the thirteenth is just a normal day on which I started a trip, together with my wife, to Brazil. The trip started an hour late because the air traffic controllers in Paris were on strike again. Fortunately, our connecting flight was also delayed, so we had another hour to change planes, which is rather short at Charles de Gaulle airport. I knew what was going to happen. Fortunately, we reached our plane in time. Unfortunately, two of our suitcases did not. One of the suitcases contained my light painting equipment, the tripod and the rotation tool. I had planned to do light painting portraits at the weekend with friends and family. Since that's not going to happen, I'm going to do some canned portraits today.
Mir war klar, was passieren würde.

The difficulty was to expose each part of the body only once and to avoid moving as much as possible. Which is of course a contradiction in itself, as the torch had to be operated once with the right and then with the left hand in order to expose myself. To make it look really creepy, I flashed from my mouth and eyes with a small LEDLenser K2 torch directly towards the lens. The picture was taken in December 2018 in Puerto Rico in my hotel room. I was just in that mood that day to make such an eerie portrait. 😱😂

On the picture above you can see Chris.
Chris was introduced here before.
To expose Chris' face I used a Magilight with black glass fibre from FOTORGEAR. On this tool you can set various programmes with various colour changes. The wall behind Chris was lit by a Lightpainting Paradise torch with a blue filter.

Well, a light painting with fibreglass doesn't always have to look as scary as the first two pictures show. In the picture above you can see Geane. Here, in preparation for a workshop, I had simply set the effect: Gradient, Style Rainbow, Speed fast, Blink 10 with the Magilight and black glass fibre from FOTORGEAR and then waved the tool around Geane a bit. Geane itself was exposed with the help of a calligraphy tool.

Using a RGB CRITTER torch from Ands on Melon and black fibreglass, the above and next two images were created. Geane was the model here as well. The stripe effects were achieved by placing and dragging the glass fibres on the face. The centre of the face was exposed by bundling the fibre and holding it towards the face at a slightly wider distance. Around the head I then waved the glass fibres again to create this colourful smoke effect.

The following light painting was done like the pictures above, with the difference that Geane was lit from the front with a calligraphy tool.
I hope that the missing suitcases will reach us as quickly and completely as possible and that I will be able to report on the latest light painting adventures next Sunday. So stay tuned!
Also bleibt dran!
