With all of the everyday demands and stresses on top of the new reality we’ve all been dealing with this year some relaxation time was way overdue.
My SIL decided to have a ladies luncheon where us mothers can come and take a load off with painting, sipping, conversating, and eating all while listening to some smooth jazz.
It’s interesting how your idea of fun changes as you get older. I would never have imagined I’d be looking forward to doing these types of things.
It is healthy for me to be able to miss my kids. I am with them 24 hours a day everyday all week. My mental and emotional capacity is challenged on a daily basis. 😓 When I have the opportunity to get away from the house I sprint to it. It is refreshing when I start to miss them and want to come back lol.
Parents need breaks from time to time.
From my experience it’s good for everyone because my children like to have breaks from me too. They also get the chance to miss me and then when we come back together it’s an awesome reunion.
You all know my two favorite hobbies are photography and needlework. So to take my relaxation a step further I decided to snap some photos of our time together. Photography makes me happy and I love capturing things I later can enjoy again.
I hope you enjoy the photos! 😊

My SIL prepared a nice food spread for us to enjoy.
We enjoyed the food so much it took us awhile to get to the painting lol.
You can never go wrong with good food and good conversation.

Topping our yummy lunch off with a glass of Peach Moscato was just what I needed. I rarely have a glass of wine so when it’s time to social drink I get a little happy. 😁
She had the glasses set up nicely in their own little corner...
It was chilled and so refreshing. Fruity wine is my favorite.

We had quite a few art supplies to choose from. From paint pens to paint brushes. Here are a few:
For those that wanted to draw their art before painting we had this sketching kit...
I loved the water colors that had a glittering shine.

I am going to share a series of paintings and their process from three ladies.
The first one is my mother’s. When she found out we were having a ladies luncheon that involved painting she knew she’d be there one way or another.
She has fallen in love with drawing and watercolor painting. She learned how to paint from watching the late Bob Ross who was a painter, instructor and hosted his own television show. It is so relaxing and addictive watching his work.
When my mom grabbed her ruler we knew she meant business and that her work would be great! This picture was inspired by a painting that was hanging on the wall...
Next is my SIL. She has a natural art talent and does pretty well with drawing. She has been practicing on drawing faces with more details and she’s great with objects.
She has taken a love to watercolor painting as well. She loves the calming effect it has and loves listening to music while doing her art.
Her inspiration came from a beach ball her daughter brought downstairs for us to see...
This last painting is from someone totally new to the whole painting scene. She mentioned she never watercolor painted for this was an interesting experience for her.
She also took her inspiration from the beach ball...
Oh I can’t forget about my little niece. She’s 7 years old and already has the artistic touch. She loves drawing and creating like her mom.
Here she shows us a castle she drew that came to life as a monster...
Well I hope you enjoyed relaxing with me.
Wait, what?
Oh I was hoping you wouldn’t go there and ask where my painting is.
Yea about that. Remember when I said at the beginning what my two hobbies were? Drawing and painting are not my skill or passion.
Really? So you’re still going to insist. 🤨
Well in my defense my focus that day was on capturing the moment but since you are persistent I will show you. Don’t expect anything great and please no laughing. 😏
I decided to use the brush pens with just a touch of watercolor...
So why does my picture look chaotic and crazy?
Because...
I drew what was on my mind that week and it was about all of the worldly chaos surrounding us right now. A mess and confusion just like my painting is lol.
I know it’s elementary but I only drew it because the other ladies said I had to participate and not just take photos. So I gave them an art piece! 🤣
