Here is the 2nd part of photoshoot I took part in to help raise money for a great local charity. You can check out the first post for more pics and information etc.
I've just finished a week off from work. I didn't really do anything exciting, but it was a much needed opportunity to finally catch up with my editing. Considering that this shoot took part last December, I am almost embarrassed to admit that it has taken 2 months for me to finally get it finished.
There are two reasons for this... the first one is I enjoy the experenice of editing and sharing new images, and after I have I taken the pictures, I am excited to crack on and see what I can create for the final images. The longer I leave it, the longer the gap between shooting and editing, the lest interested I become. Other stuff seems to get in the way, and there are other fun things to do instead.
The second reason is for the models sake. In this shoot we were all working what often is referred to as 'TF' or 'TFP'. This stands for 'Time For Prints' and means that both sides (model and photographer) give up their time and get rewarded with new images for their respective portfolios.
While they are understanding and aware that we are all busy, and that "life gets in the way" I always feel that I should try to provide at least some images as soon as I reasonably can.
Other circumstances are different of course. If I am paying the model for the shoot then, I am not obligated to pass on any images to him or her, and I am free to edit the images as and when I want to. And if its the other way round, and a client is paying me to take their picture, then I am obligated to send them the finished photos as soon as I can.
I had a 'portrait shoot' just before Christmas, of an ex-work colleague and her family. Even though I was crazy busy over the festive period I still managed to get her 50 odd pictures sorted in the space of 3 days. My friend was paying me actual money so she had priority...
Anyway, back to the TF shoot. I was struggling to find time to get these sorted, but fortunately as a group (there were 5 other photographers there that day) and between us we managed to get to work and some finished images started to appear after a few days. Even so, it was weighing heavily on my mind and in the end it was almost relief to get them finished.
The final job was to then pass on those finished images with the models (and thank them for their patience as well)
Note to self, don't leave it so long next time. The longer the wait, the harder it gets to keep motivated on doing them!
Thank you for reading, I hope you found it interesting.
