Getting some sun while I can
The weather here has been pretty crazy. It warmed up for a while and then got cold again. I picked my mother in law up yesterday, which is an hour drive north from where I live and it was snowing there again. Luckily down at my home, there wasn't any snow and the sun was out.
It was a good day to let Rusty out and explore the backyard again. He hasn't been outside in a while and he was super excited to be out there sniffing around.
When the cats are outside, Harley keeps a close eye on them. He seems to be doing pretty good despite his tumors. His stomach is still pretty swollen, but he doesn't seem to be in any pain or anything from them, so that is good. He is such a good dog.
Rusty loves exploring the rocks. I need to get outside once the weather is decent again and start pulling those weeds. They are going to be out of control soon if I don't do something about them. My wife and I want to plant wildflowers in the rocks, so in order to do that, I will need to get rid of any of the weeds so we dont mistake the wildflowers for weeds once they start sprouting.
I have been trimming the trees in the backyard and have been burning a lot of the little branches and I think Rusty likes the smell. I have heard that the ashes in a fire pit are pretty good for sprinkling around in the grass as a sort of fertilizer, so I will be doing that once the ashes have dried out more. They are still pretty wet from the constant snow and now rain.
It's a good thing my Blackstone Grill is in my garage, because it is going to be raining here soon. Cooking burgers on the Blackstone is probably one of my favorite meals to make.
I've found that if you cook onions in the burger fat, they get a really good flavor to them. Then I toast the buns in the fat as well and that gives the burgers a nice crunchy and fluffy bite. I think burgers are probably one of my favorite meals in the entire world.
Harley even likes when he gets a bite. He is going to get some extra treats cause he is such a good dog. I hope you all have an awesome weekend. I am hoping it isn't too cold here over the next couple days cause I have a lot of yard work to get to.
