Yesterday I had a post about saving money and what I could save money on. It was part of a challenge and I don't like to write just to write, therefore I mean what I write. Yesterday, among other things I said I should cut my spending on eating out and craft food.
Also yesterday a seafood festival started and I happened to pass by the place where it is organized. I'm not a huge fan of seafood for health reasons. I want to be, but unfortunately my health says otherwise. At the time of my visit, the festival was not open yet, but the smell was all over the place already. The place was not open yet, but the menu was hung out for people to see. I had a look at it and 😳 this was the expression you could read on my face.
Most of the sea food is imported in my country, therefore it's not cheap. I knew what to expect regarding the prices, kinda, but what I saw exceeded my expectations. Luckily I don't live in a bubble, so I know the price levels for different food categories and knew right away I'm not going to make the company any profits for sure. So today I went to the festival exclusively to take photos, which is not an easy job as they can see you as an investigative journalist and chase you away. This is something you always have to be prepared for.
Turkish delights, says the banner and indeed, it was full of Turkish delights.
Baklava can never be missing, so they had plenty here.
There was traditional Turkish food like kebab too.
Apart from high prices, light was my enemy too, so I had to work magic to be able to take some half decent photos.
There were some heavy pieces here, but the glass was foggy, so I took this partial photo. However, the guy who was responsible for this section saw me, he told me I can take photos, then he saw the foggy glass and cleaned it up. How sweet I thought. This is something you don't see every day.
But he could not clean the reflections :(.
So, do you see anything interesting that you'd eat from here?
And this is where the fun began.
Cinnamon rice with peanuts.
Paella, anyone?
When I took this photo I was a bit annoyed by the steam, but I think it adds a bit to the photo.
This is how it's done.
Shrimps anyone?
This one you mean? Good choice, paella is good. I had some last year and was good.
So today was food photography day. I hope you were able to find something you like and these photos did not make you hungry. I was able to stick to my initial plan and went home empty handed. Resisting temptation is not easy, but it can be done.
I wish I could have taken better photos, but for health and safety reasons, I would never go closer, neither would they allow anyone to do that.
