On Madeira's southern coast is a banana trail. Yep, a banana trail 😅. You have the possibility to walk amongst the banana trees and see the farm. I had never seen how bananas grow in nature so it was interesting for me to see it. It's not a popular trail or known place so it was quite hard to find the trailhead, to be honest, it doesn't seem like a trail at all. Just someone's farm that allows people to walk through it. Here you can see some photos I took.
I can confidently tell you that the fresh banana is so good! It's nothing like you get here in northern Europe from a food store. The local fresh banana is really sweet. The difference in taste is day and night really.
The trail itself was really short. For some reason, I thought it would be longer but we completed it in around 5 minutes or so.
In addition to the bananas, we also saw some grapes growing there. Tasted some of these as well, so good! Again, tastes nothing like the ones in the food store overall.
Saw this. Unfortunately, I didn't have any change on me to support their dreams.
Here are a couple of pictures taken just outside the garden of bananas, right on the coast. The small town where this place can be found is named Madalena do Mar.
