Camera Rotation Light Painting of a tree.
Let me take you back to my Austin trip one more time. I want to share some images of that adventure that you have not seen yet. Of course, one has to be a Light Painting. It became a thing I guess. I take a walk and constantly imagine what it would look like at night with different lights or colors. So also this tree. Little below you also get to see the original place by daylight. Check this out.
Hier also mal wieder ein Baum.
What were the settings?
The images you see are 130 and125 seconds-long single-exposure time photographs. The camera was set to ISO 100 and the Laowa 12mm Zero D F2.8 Lens was set to F22.
Principle method
For these shots, I was about a meter away from the tree. At the 12mm focal length, this gave me yet enough of the tree bark structure at this interesting fork.
I set my rotation tool to the 90° setting so I can feel a little bump while rotating in the dark. The original set was already tilted at a 45° angle for the starting point of the exposure.
After the trigger, I was shedding light from the right-hand side in white and red behind the tree for every step repeating these steps for a full 360° rotation in four steps.
Tree in Light | Daytime impression
When revisiting the day photos I kind of regret that I went too close for the featured shot. The other two trees in the foreground make a cool addition in the composition that I missed during the night. I guess: zoom out would have been nice. Did not see that at night here.
Taking a walk to make space for creativity and letting go of the everyday pressure.
Wander into the far distance | lasst uns in die ferne schweifen
While looking for some cool spots on the property I found this little hidden viewpoint overlooking the hills around Austin, Texas. No sign no nothing to find it. I was lucky but I guess someone knows exactly what they were doing here.
Camera Rotation is what?
My head is spinning I have done that so many times. As I have shared with you in so many of my posts on the topic of Camera Rotation. Yes, it is just what the name suggests. The camera is being rotated during the exposure, sometimes in steps sometimes in a continuous motion while doing so I also light up the scene.
Prinzip Kamera Rotation Light Painting?
The setup on the right is what I used for these shots.
When interested in this specific niche photography technique, there is an article on my website and here on Hive as a blog post.

FYI this is not an intentional Light Painting but surely I pressed the button somewhere .. found it on the chip and wtf .. and yes .. loved it and wanted to share also with you! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
I hope you found these images inspirational. If you have more questions please do not hesitate to ask. I am happy to share my knowledge.
If you think this is Spam, why did you read this far and why the fuck bother you? Move on from your self-righteous mind state and bury yourself. Don't bother about what others may find interesting. Just stay in your bubble and ...
All there is left to say is Cheer Up!
