Candies of Light - Light Painting Photography on HIVE

Some time ago I had attached the Ants On A Melon RGB lamp to an acrylic blade and fiddled around with different colour changing modes in front of the camera. When I saw the results I was surprised. The light trails looked like colourful sweets.

Vor einiger Zeit hatte ich die Ants On A Melone RGB Lampe an einem Blade aus Acrylglas befestigt und mit verschiedenen Farbwechselmodi vor der Kamera rumgefuchtelt. Als ich die Ergebnisse sah war ich überrascht. Die Lichtspuren sahen aus wie bunte Bonbons.

The blade used is round. Since I cut it out by hand, the edge is quite rough and uneven. This is how this special candy effect came about. With the perfectly laser-cut blade from the Light Painting Shop, such pictures should not be possible.

Das verwendete Blade ist rund. Da ich das mit der Hand ausgeschnitten habe ist die Kante recht rauh und ungleichmäßig. Dadurch entstand dieser besondere Bonbon Effekt. Mit dem perfekt mit dem Laser geschnittenen Blade aus dem Light Painting Shop dürften solche Bilder nicht gelingen.

I took all the pictures with the Nikon D750 and the Meyer Optik Görlitz 35/2. I moved the blade within 1.5 metres of the lens. The blade has a diameter of approx. 25 cm. I had set the aperture to 8. The ISO was set to 100 and the exposure times were between 5 and 10 seconds.

Alle Bilder habe ich mit der Nikon D750 und dem Meyer Optik Görlitz 35/2 aufgenommen. Das Blade habe ich im Bereich von 1,5 Meter bis direkt an das Objektiv bewegt. Das Blade hat einen Durchmesser von ca. 25 cm. Die Blende hatte ich auf 8 gestellt. Der ISO war auf 100. Die Belichtungszeiten lagen zwischen 5 und 10 Sekunden.

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?

Light painting is a unique form of art. The darkness is illuminate by the artist with diverse light sources and light traces are paint into the picture with various light tools. Various techniques are use, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. All the pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, the pictures are not processed on the computer.
