I have always enjoyed taking photographs, even though the professional camera I once had was damaged and I haven’t been able to replace it. I always use my phone to take pictures, whether I’m traveling or simply see something I like. The photography I usually take is urban or architectural. However, since I started writing on Hive, I’ve developed a taste for food photography.
Taking pictures of food is something I truly enjoy. People often look at me strangely in restaurants; some might think it’s impolite, but for me, it’s simply a pleasure. The five photos I’m sharing today in this post contain elements I was very careful about when capturing them.
The first photo in this post is of a carrot cake. I loved the subtlety of the shot. Even though my phone camera isn’t perfect, the small pieces of almonds look delicious.
The beauty of food photography lies in showcasing the subtlety of each dish. There must be harmony between the space, the elements, and the food itself. This is a beautiful and tempting photograph. I took it on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 4:23 p.m. Some details of the photo: ISO 64 – 23 mm – 0.0 EV – F1.8 – 1/60 s. I captured it in HEIC format instead of JPG, which gives it higher quality.
The dessert in this photograph is from Catta Coffee, a small shop in the city of Barquisimeto with its own charm and traditions. Professionals in the city often visit this place to work and take photos of what they order.
The next photograph is of a surf and turf grill. I took this photo at an angle because of the shape of the plate. Since it was square, it was difficult to take a pleasing shot, and I wanted to capture the shadows formed by the small rays of sunlight coming from the ceiling.
I took this photo on Sunday, April 14, 2024, on the coast of The Guaira, after an enjoyable trip to Caracas. Some details of the photo: ISO 40 – 23 mm – 0.0 EV – F1.8 – 1/1000 s. This one was taken in JPG format, yet the pieces of avocado and calamari still look great.
Another photograph I really liked was one I took while celebrating my 28th birthday. It shows the careful preparation and presentation of a grill with harmonious cuts. Simplicity can also have an elegant and captivating presentation. I liked the coordination and the detailed way the grill was served. I took this photo on March 24, 2025, at 4:22 p.m. Some details: ISO 250 – 23 mm – 0.0 EV – F1.8 – 1/40 s.
Now let’s move to a macro photograph of a chocolate cake. What fascinates me about this picture, despite the close-up and the blur, is how the cake looks. The cracked hard chocolate, the long spoon covered with a piece of cake at the tip, and an intriguing plate beneath it—everything in this image is beautiful. Best of all, it looks incredibly tempting.
This is a photo I treasure because it captures an amazing cake. I dare say it’s the most delicious one I’ve ever tasted. I took the picture on January 23, 2025, at 4:47 p.m. Thankfully, this one was also captured in HEIC format. Some details: ISO 640 – 23 mm – 0.0 EV – F1.8 – 1/20 s.

Sabores en Cámara: Cinco Fotografías Gastronómicas
Siempre me ha gustado hacer fotografía, aunque la cámara profesional que tenía se dañó y no he podido adquirir una nueva. Siempre uso mi celular para hacer fotografía, ya sea cuando voy de viaje o veo algo que me gusta. La fotografía que suelo realizar es urbana o arquitectónica. No obstante, desde que comencé a escribir en Hive tomé un gusto por la fotografía gastronómica o de alimentos.
Hacer fotos de comida para mí es genial. La gente suele mirarme extraño en los restaurantes; algunos pueden pensar que no es educado hacerlo, pero en realidad es un gusto para mí. Las cinco fotografías que compartiré el día de hoy en este post tienen elementos que cuidé al tomarlas.
La primera foto en este post es de un pastel de zanahorias; la sutileza de la fotografía me gustó. Aunque la cámara de mi celular no es perfecta, los pequeños trozos de las almendras se ven deliciosos.
La belleza de la fotografía gastronómica consiste en mostrar la sutileza de cada plato. Por ende, debe existir una relación entre el espacio, los elementos y la comida. Esta es una fotografía preciosa y provocativa. La foto la tomé el día viernes 16 de mayo de 2025 a las 4:23 p.m. Algunas características de la foto: ISO: 64 – 23 mm - 0.0 ev – F1.8 – 1/60 s. La fotografía la tomé en formato HEIC y no JPG. Por ende, su calidad es mayor.
El postre de esta fotografía es de Catta Café, un pequeño local en la ciudad de Barquisimeto con diferentes contrastes y tradiciones. Los profesionales de la ciudad suelen ir a este lugar a trabajar y hacer fotografías de lo que suelen consumir.
La siguiente fotografía es de una parrilla, mar y tierra. Particularmente, esta foto la tomé inclinada debido a la forma del plato donde estaba servida. Por ser el plato cuadrado, era difícil hacer una toma agradable y quería capturar las sombras que se generaban por los pequeños rayos del sol que entraban desde el techo.
Esta es una fotografía que logré tomar el día domingo 14 de abril de 2024 en las costas de La Guaira, luego de un viaje agradable a la ciudad de Caracas. Algunas características de la foto: ISO: 40 – 23 mm – 0.0 ev – F1.8 – 1/1000 s. Esta foto la tomé en formato JPG; a pesar de ser este formato, los trozos de aguacate y calamares se ven muy bien.
Otra de las fotografías que me gustó fue una que tomé cuando celebré mi cumpleaños número 28. Esta fotografía muestra el trabajo y la presentación de una parrilla con cortes armónicos. Lo simple también puede tener una presentación elegante y envolvente. Me gustó la coordinación y que se viera de manera detallada cómo la parrilla había sido servida. La foto la tomé el día 24 de marzo de 2025 a las 4:22 p.m. Algunas características de la foto: ISO: 250 – 23 mm – 0.0 ev – F1.8 – 1/40 s.
Ahora vamos a una fotografía macro de un pastel de chocolate. Lo que me fascina de esta foto, a pesar de su cercanía y borrosidad, es la manera en que se ve el pastel. El chocolate duro partido, la larga cuchara cubierta de un trozo de pastel en la punta y un plato intrigante. Todo es precioso en esta fotografía. Lo mejor es que se ve provocativa.
Esta es una foto que aprecio porque es de un pastel increíble. Podría asegurar que es el más delicioso que he probado.
